'I've got stretch marks and wobbly bits' Giovanna Fletcher opens up about her post-baby body

'Your body goes up, it goes down. It's part of life.'

Giovanna Fletcher has opened up about her post-baby figure, after giving birth to her second son Buddy in February.

The author, blogger and mum-of-two, who is wife to McFly frontman Tom, spoke to The Sun about a particular incident just 11 days after welcoming her second child, explaining how a fan made a thoughtless remark.

'Eleven days after Buddy was born, we were out and a lady wanted a photograph with Tom. She told me: "Oh look, Mummy's still got her tummy!" And [when] I declined to be in the picture as well, she said: "Maybe another time, when your face has slimmed down",' Giovanna told The Sun. 'I had to laugh otherwise I would have cried in her face.'

She added that the comments also had an effect on her husband, saying 'That night Tom went home and told his mum and dad, which was when I knew he was quite upset about it.'

'A few days later I was stood in front of the mirror looking at my body and I concluded that it has done an amazing thing and should be celebrated. I've had two kids and got stretch marks and wobbly bits. It's fine. Your body goes up, it goes down. It's part of life.'

At the time, Giovanna shared her thoughts on the moment on social media, telling her 695,000 Instagram followers, 'I was baffled over the stranger's need to share her thoughts... Yes, I still have a bump. But that bump kept my little baby boy safe for a whole nine months.

'That bump has filled my world with even more love and light than I knew possible. That bump is a miracle worker... My bump will slowly go over time, but I'll never stop being thankful to it and my body for everything it's given me.'

Tom later added his own response on his Facebook page, explaining, 'So proud of my beautiful wife Giovanna Fletcher for sharing this. I loved her bump when our boys were in it and I love it now!

'There's so much pressure on women to rapidly get their bodies back to "normal" post-birth and careless comments, whether meaning to cause offence or not, can be so damaging and impactful.

'We should all, men and women, support and applaud mums for what they have endured through pregnancy, labour AND after. Whether natural birth, c-section, in a pool, at home, in a hospital, whatever, wherever...mums, you're amazing - bumps and all!'

Speaking to The Sun, Giovanna admitted that parenting was the biggest challenge the couple, who met aged 13 at the Sylvia Young Theatre School, had faced yet, but said that they're a 'real team'.

'It's the toughest test in life, let alone in a relationship. You're feeling emotions you've never felt before. One minute I'm like: "I'm on top of this parenting thing!" then half an hour later it's: "Oh god, I don't know what to do!"'

Having two children has inevitably put the couple's love life on the back burner, but that's not to say that we won't be hearing the pitter patter of mini Fletcher feet again...

'It's [sex] not a top priority. Sleep is better! Tom and I love each other and I think we're both on the same page. That's how we got into this mess!'

'I'm not thinking: "Let's go for the girl," and we're not set on a number,' Giovanna concludes. 'We'll just do whatever we feel like.'
