Susan Calman confirmed as the ninth contestant for Strictly Come Dancing 2017
Are you excited to see her take to the floor?
Susan Calman has been confirmed as the ninth contestant for Strictly Come Dancing 2017.
The news was announced on BBC Radio 2's Jeremy Vine show, with Jeremy himself having taken part in the dance competition in 2015.
'I did social dancing at school, and since then, I have done nothing,' Susan told the alumni host. 'I am the last person on the dancefloor, I don't particular enjoy dancing in a lot of ways. I haven't danced with a man for over a decade. This is going to be quite interesting.'
'I think I'll be what they call a challenge,' she joked.
In an official statement released by the BBC, Susan added: 'Being on Strictly is a dream come true. Finally I can reveal all the moves I've been practising in my kitchen to the nation.'
'I am an enthusiastic home dancer and now on Saturday nights I'll be dancing in other people's homes in a (hopefully) entertaining way. I am terrified but excited to start my Strictly journey.'
Yesterday's contestant, JLS star Aston Merrygold, was also revealed on the radio, with an interview on Radio 1's Scott Mills show.

'I'm so happy to be joining Strictly 2017, it is such a brilliant show and I've followed it for years,' Aston said at the time. 'I'm both nervous and excited to learn from the professionals about a whole new way of dancing!'
Susan and Aston join the seven other contestants who have already said that they will be taking to the floor this year: TV chef Simon Rimmer, Holby City's Joe McFadden, writer and broadcaster Reverend Richard Coles, former Hollyoaks actress Gemma Atkinson, This Morning and Loose Women host Ruth Langsford, EastEnders' Davood Ghadami, and The Saturdays singer Mollie King.
2017 marks the 15th series of Strictly Come Dancing, which first hit our screens all the way back in May 2004.
Since then, the team have won several awards, including three National Reality TV Awards for Best Talent Show, and a BAFTA for Best Entertainment Programme.
