Cheryl reveals that her beloved dog Coco has passed away

The former X Factor judge shared the heartbreaking news with fans over social media

Singer Cheryl Tweedy has taken to Twitter to reveal the sad news that her beloved pet dog Coco has passed away.

The 34-year-old former X Factor judge, who made her first public appearance at the weekend since the birth of her son Bear in March, shared the heartbreaking news with fans over social media.

Commenting on a fan's photo of their pup, the singer of Girls Aloud fame wrote: '... Girl dogs are always so cute. Sadly my little Coco passed away last week.'

Cheryl has had Coco since 2006, when she was married to footballer Ashely Cole. After the couple split, they shared custody of the pooch, with a source close to the couple admitting that their two dogs, Coco and Buster, were like 'children' for the couple.

Now happily settled with boyfriend Liam Payne and their son, Bear, Cheryl still doted on her dogs.

After revealing the news to her followers on Twitter, fans were quick to share their sympathies with the star.

'I'm so sorry Chez, hope you're okay. Sending you lots of love' said one fan, while another wrote: 'So sorry to hear about sweet coco thoughts are with you Chez.'

Despite Cheryl's sad loss, the star put on a brave face and was all smiles for the cameras at the weekend when she attended her first public event since the birth of baby Bear earlier this year.

Cheryl attended charity football match Game4Grenfell with best friend and former band mate Nicole Roberts. The special event, which was held to raise money for those who have been affected by the Grenfell Tower disaster in June, saw the likes of Olly Murs, Ben Cohen, Mo Farah, and Homeland actor Damian Lewis take to the pitch to compete in a football match.

Cheryl certainly turned heads at the event, sporting a pair of bright red trousers that showed off her trademark abs just six months after giving birth.
