If you're paying an annual or monthly fee, knowing the hidden benefits of your Amazon Prime membership is key to make sure you're getting the best value for money.

With more than 200 million Amazon Prime members worldwide, there are lots of ways you can save money while shopping with the online giant. But being a Prime member affords you and your family lots of other benefits that could save you money outside of shopping on Amazon's app or website.

If you’re not a Prime member, then you're in luck as you can sign up for a 30-day free trial. After the trial expires, membership will set you back £8.99 a month or you can buy an annual subscription for £95 a year (which is the cheapest option).

What are some of the main benefits of Amazon Prime? 

One of the most obvious and well-known benefits of Amazon Prime is the super fast and free delivery. Members can enjoy free one-day and same-day delivery in some areas, making it well worth the investment if you shop on Amazon a lot and need last-minute items and can’t get to the shops. If you’re not a member, you’re looking at forking out between £2.99 and £5.99 for orders under £20 (£10 for books), and deliveries tend to take between three to five days. For many Prime members, this benefit alone makes a membership worth it.

Prime members are also given exclusive access to annual sales events, like Amazon Prime Day, or Black Friday, which falls at the end of November. Make sure you read our guide on how to get the best deals on Amazon Prime Day so you shop wisely.

1. Downloading TV shows and films to watch offline

Amazon Prime members have access to Prime Video - a platform with 16,500+ movies and more than 1,960 TV shows, including exclusive Amazon Originals and Live Sports, some of which are free to subscribers and others are available to rent or buy.

You can stream them to watch on your computer, phone, or smart TV, as well as through devices such as Chromecast or a Fire TV stick. But what you might not realise is that you can also download movies and TV shows to watch online if you have a Fire tablet or the Prime Video app.

Not only is this a great way to keep the kids entertained on long car journeys, but it’s also useful if you want to watch your favourite series on holiday and avoid roaming charges. You can even enjoy other shows and films by buying third-party channel subscriptions such as Disney, Eurosport Player, and Hayu through Prime Video, as well as other streaming entertainment channels.

Holly Andrews, managing director at KIS Finance, told GoodtoKnow, “To compare it to other services, Netflix can cost anywhere from £4.99 and £17.99 a month depending on which plan you choose, and this is just for movies and TV shows. With Amazon Prime, you are getting this, plus all of their other benefits, for £8.99.”

2. Deliveroo Plus

If you love treating your family to a takeaway, then another brilliant hidden benefit of Amazon Prime is you get Deliveroo Plus free for a whole year. That means unlimited free delivery on orders over £25 from your favourite restaurants and takeaways.

For those not in the know, Deliveroo Plus is Deliveroo’s subscription plan where you pay a fee to get free delivery from participating restaurants. It normally costs £3.49 or £7.99 a month depending on which plan you choose.

“Deliveroo Plus is one of the less well-known benefits of Amazon Prime,” says Ben Faulkner, marketing director at EQ Investors. “Deliveroo normally charges a minimum of £3.49 a month for Deliveroo Plus, making this a saving of more than £40 a year.” To claim this perk, activate the offer on the Deliveroo website.

3. Discount Odeon cinema tickets

If you and the kids love a trip to watch a film on the big-screen, then make sure you know about the discounted cinema tickets you can get with your Prime membership.

Each month, Prime members get an exclusive code to use at Odeon cinemas across the country. The code will get you either two standard tickets for £10, or two recliner tickets for £15, which is a saving of up to £18 depending on whether you buy adult or child tickets. Head to amazon.co.uk/odeon for your code, copy it, then go to Odeon to book your tickets. You can only use one code per calendar month, but it's a handy way to cut the cost of a family trip to the movies, or an impromptu date night when you manage to get a babysitter.

4. Prime Gaming

Your Prime membership also gives you access to free games (some of which you can keep) and free in-game content. So if your kid's love gaming, then this might be a perk they'd enjoy. But as with any online activity, make sure you know how to keep your kids safe online, and the questions to ask if your child is online gaming.

And your Prime subscription comes with a free Twitch channel subscription every month. Twitch is a video-on-demand service owned by Amazon that focuses on video game live streaming. To use it, you’ll need to link your Amazon and Twitch accounts.

5. Prime Reading

Prime members can also access over a thousand ebooks, magazines and comics every month that you can read for free on any device with a Kindle app. You can keep up to ten digital books at a time and unlike a library, there are no due dates.

And if that’s not enough of a perk, you can borrow or buy the Audible narration of many of the ebooks so you can listen to them instead, which is a great option for busy mums who struggle to find the time to sit and read a book. Prime members get a 30-day free trial of the Audible app too (an audiobook and podcast streaming service), with two audiobooks for you to keep.

Plus, through Amazon First Reads, members can enjoy early access to choose one Kindle book release each month for free.

6. Amazon Music

Another benefit is Amazon Music which provides access to 100 million songs ad-free, the largest catalogue of ad-free podcasts and thousands of playlists and stations. “If you don’t listen to music too much then this could be a good money-saving option for you rather than paying for another service like Spotify,” says finance expert Holly Andrews.

“But if you do listen to music a lot then there is also Amazon Music Unlimited. This will set you back £8.99 a month on top of your Prime subscription and give you access to 100 million songs.” You can also listen ad-free with unlimited skips and download for offline listening with Amazon Music Unlimited.

7. Try before you buy

Order up to six items of clothing, shoes and accessories without paying first. You then have seven days to decide what you want to keep and what you want to return. You only pay for what you keep.

This is really handy if you struggle to wrangle the family and get them into a physical shop where they can try things on. Just make sure you return them within the timeframe to avoid being charged.

8. Amazon Fresh

As a Prime member, you will also benefit from Amazon Fresh, a food delivery service. Enjoy free delivery on orders over £40, otherwise, you pay £3.99.

You can use it to buy your whole supermarket shop, including fresh produce, household goods and specialist brands (minimum order spend £15). You can place your order and have it delivered on the same day in one to two hour delivery slots (depending on where you live and slot availability), either from Amazon Fresh or directly from a local Morrisons store.

9. Compatibility with Alexa

Another hidden benefit of Amazon Prime is that you can shop for millions of items using voice-controlled virtual assistant Alexa, reorder things you use the most, and learn about the latest deals on Amazon. Alexa can also notify you about deliveries.

GoodtoKnow's Money Editor Sarah Handley says: "I've added items to my basket using Alexa before, and on more than one occasion, it was actually cheaper than if I'd added it on the app."

10. Prime Photos

If you're always running out of photo storage then you’ll love this hidden perk. KIS Finance’s Holly explains: “Amazon offers Prime members unlimited full-resolution photo storage plus 5GB of video storage.

“If you’re already paying for storage, for example £7.99 a month for Dropbox Plus, then moving your photos over to Amazon means you can cut out another monthly expense and save money. And if you need more storage, then you can get an extra 100GB for videos for just £1.49 a month.”

Prime Photos also allows you to share images and videos with up to five family members using the Family Vault. You can see your files on any device, and download the Amazon Photos app to back up all your content on your computer.

11. Amazon Family

New parents will especially love this hidden benefit of Amazon Prime: simply create a profile for your child or children and enjoy up to 20% off nappy and baby food subscriptions, plus personalised product recommendations and exclusive deals.

But to qualify for this deal, you have to subscribe to at least five items, which means you will need to get regular scheduled deliveries for each one.

12. Lightning deals

As a Prime member you can also benefit from 30-minute early access to lightning deals on Amazon - these are a range of offers and discounts on items which change on a regular basis.

13. Subscribe & Save

For lots of products, Amazon offers a Subscribe and Save function, where you can schedule regular deliveries of your most used purchases, for a discounted price. You choose the frequency of the deliveries, and you'll get a heads up from Amazon before the items are sent to make sure you still want them.

14. Amazon Household

Unlike Netflix, which has been cracking down on password sharing, Amazon is actively encouraging it by letting its Prime members share their account with friends and family through Amazon Household. As long as they have your password, they can shop exclusive deals, get free delivery, watch Prime TV shows and movies, and play games.

How do you sign up to Amazon Prime? 

It’s really easy to sign up to Amazon Prime, but before doing that make sure you take advantage of the free 30-day trial first. If you realise you don’t use it enough to make it worth the investment, you can cancel your subscription when the month is up.

Without cancelling, you will automatically be charged £8.99 a month to enjoy all the Prime benefits. But the good news is, you can sign up for a free trial once every 12 months so if you want to save money with Amazon at Christmas, or take advantage of Prime Day deals, you can just do that instead.

If you’re a student you can also enjoy a cheaper Prime membership at just £4.49 a month, plus you can take advantage of a whopping six month free trial rather than 30 days.

“Given the huge number of different features and perks compared with other subscription services, Prime is definitely worth looking into if you want to save money and cut down on outgoings,” says Holly.

Knowing how to get Disney+ for free is a pretty nifty trick, especially when you realise that the streaming giant is no longer offering free trials to new customers.

TV streaming has become a regular outgoing for thousands of families, but the cost of living crisis means many people will be looking for ways to cut the cost of Netflix, Amazon Prime and Disney+. However, as well as reducing the cost, you might be able to get Disney+ and other streaming services for free. This might be especially useful, now that the streamer is cracking down on password sharing.

Disney+ launched in the UK on 24 March 2020, just as the country went into lockdown and saw 73.7 million subscribers in its first year alone. By April 2023, that number has risen to 157.8 million, although it has since fallen back to about 150 million worldwide.

Housing Disney classics, like The Lion King, Beauty and the Beast and The Little Mermaid, as well as newer family-favourites like Encanto, Wish and Moana, Disney+ is also home to all the Marvel movies, like Iron Man, Thor and Black Panther, in addition to popular series for adults including The Bear and Only Murders in the Building.

With more than six million households signed up to more than one streaming service (according to Finder) telly-watching can be an expensive pastime. Here we look at how you can save by taking advantage of free subscription offers.

How to get Disney+ for free

While Disney+ no longer offers a free trial to customers in the UK, there are a few clever ways to get anything from two to 12 months of Disney+ for free. If you already have Disney+, you may have to cancel your subscription before taking advantage of the three, six and 12 month free offers mentioned in this article.

Personal finance expert Andrew Hagger from money website MoneyComms adds: “There are so many streaming services to choose from now, you can easily lose track of just how much you're paying out each month in total.

“With many people still struggling due to the cost of living crisis and higher bills, now may be a good time to review what you're paying for and how much you use each one – if you don't want to ditch any, consider downgrading to a plan with ads – it may be a bit more annoying, but it will certainly benefit your bank balance.”

How to get up to two months Disney+ for free

Pay the annual subscription fee: You can get two months of Disney+ for free simply by opting for an annual subscription instead of a monthly one.

A Standard subscription costs £7.99 per month (and means you will pay £95.88 over the course of a year). But if you pay up front in one go, it costs £79.90. This is the equivalent of only paying your subscription for 10 months of the year, meaning you get two months for free.

Disney+'s newer Premium subscription costs £10.99 a month, which adds up to £131.88 a year. But if you pay for a year up front it costs £109.90, which, again, is the equivalent of two months free.

Use a cashback site: Paying for your Disney+ subscription through cashback site TopCashback means you'll get up to £11.55 back, which can help to reduce the cost of your subscription. The amount you get back will depend on which subscription package you choose and whether you opt to pay the annual fee in one go or pay it monthly. All of the details can be found on the TopCashback website.

It's worth remembering that you can use the cashback site for loads of retailers to effectively save money everytime you shop online.

How to get three months Disney+ for free

Use your Tesco Clubcard vouchers: If you have a Tesco Clubcard, you can use your vouchers to get a three-month Disney+ subscription. Remember, you get two times the value of your vouchers when you spend with one of Tesco's Reward Partners, which includes Disney+.

There are two options:

• Use £7.50 of Clubcard vouchers to get three months of Disney+ Standard with ads (worth £14.97)
• Use £12 of Clubcard vouchers to get three months of Disney+ Standard (worth £23.97)

If you don't fancy Disney+, there are plenty of other ways to spend your Tesco Clubcard vouchers, on things like cinema tickets, holidays, and days out.

How to get four months free Disney+

Opt for a plan that includes ads: Disney+ offers a selection of subscription plans, including one where you'll get all the same programmes and films, with some ads in between.

If you go from an annual subscription for £79.90 to a standard (with ads) subscription for £4.99 per month (which works out as £59.88 over 12 months) - you'll save £20.02, which is the equivalent of getting four months of the standard with ads plan for free.

How to get six months free Disney+

Add it to your O2 account: If you are an O2 customer, you could get six months of Disney+ for free when you upgrade. You simply add it to your account as an extra when you upgrade to a new handset or SIM-only deal, and once the six months are over, you can continue to pay the £7.99 monthly fee with the rest of your mobile bill.

All is not lost if you don't want to upgrade. Existing customers can add the Disney+ Extra to their account and pay £7.99 a month for the Disney+ Premium plan (normally £10.99) and O2 will also give you £2 off your bill.

This deal isn't limited to six months like the free offer, and over the course of a year, works out to about £14 cheaper than paying the annual subscription fee as the table below shows:

Samsung used to offer six of 12 months free Disney+ access to customers with an eligible device , but that offer is no longer available, having ended on 31 March 2024.

How to get 12 months free Disney+

As a benefit to a Club Lloyds bank account: If you bank with Lloyds and are a Club Lloyds member, you get a choice of lifestyle benefits, which includes a 12 month-subscription to Disney+. If you opt for this perk, you'll get a year's worth of the standard-with-ads plan, which is worth £4.99 per month, or £59.88 a year. The Lloyds website states that right now, you're not able to upgrade to ad-free plans with this perk, so bear that in mind before you commit.

As a perk of Uber One membership: If you regular travel by Uber and order food via Uber Eats, then you may benefit from becoming an Uber One member (£5.99 per month). You'll get a host of perks including free delivery (where eligible) and exclusive discounts. But if you sign up for an annual Uber One membership (£59.99 per year), then you'll get 12 months of Disney+ (standard plan, worth £7.99 per month or £79.90 per year) for free. After that, it will auto-renew unless you cancel it. This promotion is available until 30 November 2024. If you cancel your Uber One subscription, you may also lose your Disney+ access.

How much does Disney+ normally cost?

How much Disney+ costs depends on which subscription type you pick. The streaming service introduced a new pricing strategy on 1 November 2023. Up until this date it offered just one subscription at £7.99 a month or £79.90 a year if you paid in one go. Its cheapest price is now a £4.99 a month deal if you’re happy to watch adverts.

Disney+ has three subscription options:

• Standard with Ads: £4.99 per month (no annual option). Allows for two concurrent streams; full HD 1080p resolution, 5.1 and Stereo sound. No download functionality.
• Disney+ Standard: £7.99 per month or £79.90 per year. Allows for two concurrent streams; full HD 1080p resolution, and 5.1 and Stereo sound. Download functionality and no adverts.
• Disney+ Premium: £10.99 per month or £109.90 per year. Allows for four concurrent streams; 4K UHD and HDR, and superior Dolby Atmos audio. Download functionality and no adverts.

Existing subscribers were automatically switched to the £10.99 a month option – an increase of £3 a month – unless they actively changed their subscription in their account settings.

 Does Disney+ offer a free trial? 

Disney+ no longer offers a free trial to new customers. When the streaming service first launched in the UK in March 2020, it came with a seven-day free trial to encourage new subscribers. But the freebie was only available for a few months – it was scrapped in June 2020 ahead of the Hamilton and Frozen 2 premieres.

Newer streaming services like Apple TV+ and Paramount+ offer short free trials for new customers, but out of the bigger streaming services like Disney+, Netflix and Amazon Prime, it's only Amazon Prime that still offers a free trial.

Is Disney+ free with with Amazon Prime?

Disney+ isn't free as part of your Amazon Prime subscription - it's a separate streaming service. However, you might find some shows or movies are available on both platforms, although you might have to pay for it. For example, Marvel movies are available for free as part of a Disney+ subscription, but you will need to pay extra (on top of your Amazon Prime subscription fee) to be able to watch them through Prime Video.

It's worth also understanding the hidden benefits of a Prime membership, if you are trying to decide which streaming service to choose.

Which streaming services offer free trials?

Out of the big hitter streaming services, like Netflix, Amazon Prime, and Disney+, it's only Amazon Prime that offers a free trial. That trial lasts 30 days.

Max Beckett, telecoms expert at Uswitch.com, said: “Unfortunately, two of the biggest streaming services, Netflix and Disney+, no longer offer free trials to new customers. However, there are still lots of other big streaming services, such as Amazon Prime Video, NOW TV, and BritBox, that offer the chance to try before you buy.

“You may have signed up for more streaming services than you realise, with many running in the background and costing you money each month without you actually watching anything on those platforms. So it’s a good idea to set reminders in your calendar when you sign up for free trials if you decide that you don’t want to pay for the full subscription.”

Apple TV+ and Paramount+ both offer seven day free trials. Don't forget too, that if you buy an Apple product, like an iPhone, iPad or Apple Watch, you will get anything from three to 12 months free Apple TV+ access.

If you are a fan of Netflix, make sure you are aware of the streamer's ban on password sharing to avoid falling fowl of new rules.

LEGO DUPLO vs LEGO might be a conversation you're having with yourself, I know I wondered when to 'move' my kid onto LEGO, to graduate him to the smaller bricks. It's one of the main reasons I wrote this article to help parents who are pondering the same, and which is the best to buy and why.

I'm Stephanie Lowe family editor here at Goodto and I have and compare both the Classic LEGO set, for sale at £35.49 on Amazon and the LEGO DUPLO Number Train Toy set, on sale for £26.99 at Amazon for my son. LEGO DUPLO vs LEGO

LEGO is designed for children from 6 years plus, while DUPLO is for children from 1½ to 5 years old. For easy play and safety reasons, DUPLO blocks and all the accessories are bulkier and larger than classic LEGO blocks, reducing choking hazards. DUPLO blocks are also easier to build and require less precision and coordination than LEGO.

Regardless of whether you go with LEGO or LEGO DUPLO, play really is a child’s work and it’s never done and Dr Gina Gomez de la Cuests agrees. What is LEGO?

LEGOs are plastic building blocks made of bright colours that are designed to easily stack and fit together with their signature interlocking studs, and are easy to take apart, making them reusable and rebuildable.

As our LEGO facts article will tell you, the brand originated from Denmark, LEGO comes from the Danish phrase 'leg godt', which means “play good.” LEGO has a huge range, with Classic sets that include the most basic elements: bricks, plates, wheels, windows, doors, etc.

The intention is to inspire free building and allow imagination to take over, the options of what to build are infinite - and gender-free. Over the decades, LEGO has created thousands of sets for children 4 years old through adulthood.

A typical flagship LEGO set would usually consist of many coloured interlocking plastic bricks in configurations such as 2X2 (two columns of studs, in two rows), 2X3, 2X4, or more. Age range of classic LEGO is 4+.

What is DUPLO?

At twice the size of Classic LEGO bricks, DUPLO are large, colourful, and toddler-friendly. The word 'duplo' is Latin for Duplex, meaning double. The durable blocks snap together for a tight fit and even work with regular-sized LEGOs, so you can mix them together as children get older. (Our mind was blown when we learned this)

The basic LEGO DUPLO sets come in bins of 65 or 85, made up of a variety of primary colours and shapes, incorporating fun features like blocks with the numbers 1, 2, and 3. There are plenty of extras to add to your collection, like cars, trucks, animals, and people. The age range of DUPLO is 18 months - 4 years.

LEGO - pros and cons

Four pros;

1. Quality - Regular LEGO bricks are built to last for generations, LEGOs are versatile and sturdy. They can withstand decades of tough play and still be as good as new.
2. Creative - The precise edges and corners, and attention to detail, not to mention the tiny accessories that are available, encourage amazing creations.
3. Size - Regular LEGOs have a wide variety of sizes (we're looking at you 'two-er'), which help create structures, and develop fine motor skills, social skills, and dexterity.
4. Capacity - Because regular LEGO blocks come in more sizes and shapes, the range of what can be created is truly infinite. These options create a wider capacity for what can be built, pushing the bounds of a child’s imagination.

Two cons;

1. Size - Because regular LEGO bricks are made up of tiny pieces, they are a choking hazard for children under the age of four. Because of this size, they are a nightmare to tidy up quickly and easily (though you could try this amazing LEGO hack)
2. Pain level - Even having gone through labour, the pain level of unsuspectingly stepping on LEGO is a firm 9.5/10. Socks or no socks, it's horrific. The smaller the piece the sharper the pain. It’s definitely good motivation to encourage your little ones to get into the habit of putting things where they belong when they’re done playing.

DUPLO - pros and cons

Two pros;

1. Size - DUPLOs are nice and chunky, twice the size of classic LEGO. This makes them the better choice for younger builders. Plus, having bricks your younger kids can hold and use alongside classic LEGO means there's more chance they will all play together. *fingers crossed*
2. Quality - Like LEGO, DUPLO is a high-quality product that really will stand the test of time - handed down for generations.

Three cons;

1. Price point - DUPLO is high-end on the price scale compared to other branded blocks of the same size.
2. Playability - Even though they're for younger kids, DUPLO are notorious for their tight fit, making it frustrating for younger ones to grip and pull apart.
3. Shelf life - While the larger size is a pro, it's also a con as it means there's less precision in building, so kids tend to lose interest in building with them by about 5 years old. Though this isn't a hard and fast rule, so just pay attention to your kid and their preference.

LEGO vs LEGO Duplo - our verdict

Both are winners, to be fair. My son is almost six and he has had and played with both of these types of bricks and still now doesn't shy away from DUPLO, though some of his friends have declared them 'baby toys' that's not a narrative we subscribe to in our home, so the DUPLO still come out. He likes to pretend the DUPLO people are the giants. Especially as you can still use them with classic LEGO - they click together (try it!) Though, the general rule is to 1/4 the number of studs needed from the DUPLO brick to fit a regular LEGO Brick.

Regular LEGOs and DUPLOs are both excellent options for any kids, though if you have young children, start out with DUPLOs. The DUPLO blocks are the best and safest option for younger builders. They’re a great choice for 1-year-olds up to the age of 4 and a fun introduction to the world of construction.

Once children reach 4 years old, it’s a good time to introduce them to the Classic LEGO bricks and encourage collaborative play between both sets, then when you're ready donate the DUPLO for charity as you continue to no doubt build on the LEGO haul.

Viewers in the US and UK can stream Everything, Everywhere All at Once on Amazon Prime. Members signed up to Prime Video can currently watch the film for free as part of their subscription package.

A Prime Video only subscription can be purchased for $8.99/£5.99 per month. You can also get access to Prime Video with an Amazon Prime membership for $14.99/£7.99 per month. This includes all Prime benefits, such as next day delivery, and music streaming too.

Those that don't want to watch Everything Everywhere All At Once via Amazon Prime will be pleased that the film is available to rent or buy at home on other platforms too.

Audiences in the US can rent or buy the movie via iTunes (from $19.99) and Vudu (from $19.99). Meanwhile, those in the UK can find it on iTunes (from £5.49) and Microsoft Store (from £3.49).

Everything Everywhere All At Once was also released on DVD and Blu-ray on July 5, 2022.

No, Everything, Everywhere All at Once is not available to stream on Netflix. The film was produced and financed by A24 films and distributed by Lionsgate Home Entertainment. Netflix as yet haven't secured the rights to feature it on their streaming service.

What is Everything, Everywhere All at Once about?

Everything, Everywhere All at Once tells the tale of Evelyn Wang (Michelle Yeoh), a Chinese-American immigrant who is struggling to keep her family's laundromat afloat. Behind on her taxes, the world as she knows it takes an unexpected turn following a visit from IRS auditor Deirdre Beaubeirdre (Jamie Lee Curtis).

What follows is a sci-fi action adventure which sees Evelyn take on different versions of herself in a parallel universe. Her mission? To stop someone coming to harm in the multiverse.

The IMDB synopsis reads: "A middle-aged Chinese immigrant is swept up into an insane adventure in which she alone can save existence by exploring other universes and connecting with the lives she could have led."

A24 production company describes Everything, Everywhere All at Once as "hilarious and big-hearted".

Talking of her role, which led to a Best Actress win at the Oscars 2023, Michelle said: "It was liberating. These mothers, aunties, grandmothers who are there in Chinatown, or in the supermarket, but nobody ever notices them. They just walk straight past them. I wanted to give them a voice. I wanted to make them the superhero."

The 59-year-old also admitted to jumping at Everything, Everywhere All at Once when it came along. "I waited a long time for this, and luckily it came," she added. 

"Some people wait their whole life and the opportunity might never come. I was patient. I was resilient. I never stopped learning. And so I was ready when the opportunity did present itself."

Everything, Everywhere All at Once swooped the board at the 2023 Academy Awards. Several cast members walked away with an Oscar, as did the movie's directors Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert. The film also took home the coveted prize of Best Picture.

The sci-fi film was nominated in 11 catergories - losing out in Best Original Song, Best Original Score and Best Costumer Design. Stephanie Hsu was also up for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress but lost to her co-star Jamie Lee Curtis instead. 

Going into the Oscars 2023, bookies predicted Everything Everywhere All at Once as the favourite to win in big categories like Best Picture and Best Actress in a Leading Role.

Betfair gave the film odds on 1/10 to win Best Picture at the Oscars this weekend, closely followed by The Banshees of Inisherin at 10/1. Michelle Yeoh was the favourite to bag the Best Actress gong with odds of 4/7. Meanwhile the film's directors Daniel Kwan & Daniel Scheinert were 1/25 to win Best Director. All three predictions came true on the night.

Just when you thought you'd tried all the on-demand streaming services, ITV is launching ITVX and it could make you re-think how you choose to watch your favourite TV shows.

If you've already got Netflix, or are saving money on Amazon Prime or Disney+ there is a new platform you're going to want to check out.

When it officially launches from 8th December, it is set to steam David Tennant's Litvinenko , A Spy Among Friends and in 2023 new drama Nolly starring Helena Bonham Carter.

So we look at all you need to know ahead of its debut...

What is ITVX?

ITVX is a new on-demand streaming service that is going to be packed with content from ITV1 and also ITV digital channels and licensed content, giving viewers more choice. It will have substantially more exclusive programming than ITV Hub, positioning ITV's digitial offerering more in line with its competitors - the BBC and Channel 4. ITVX includes access to BritBox and a selection of FAST channels, which will see programmes such as The Chase and Hell's Kitchen have their own virtual linear channels.

Carolyn McCall, ITV’s chief executive said, "The digital acceleration we are announcing today builds on everything we have achieved in phase one of our More Than TV strategy.  ITVX will be a free service supported by adverts, with a compelling subscription proposition.  This is fantastic for viewers -  it will provide a simplified and seamless experience with thousands of hours of free content made up of both library and original exclusive content.  The subscription tier will provide a premium offering and includes all of the content ad-free as well as BritBox and future SVOD content partners.

She added, “We are supercharging our streaming business, fundamentally shifting our focus to think digital first, as well as optimising our broadcast channels, by continuing to attract unrivalled mass audiences.  In doing so we are responding to changing viewing habits, but also the evolving needs from our advertisers.  This will enable ITV to continue to be both commercial viewers and advertisers’ first choice.”

How do I get ITVX?

You can get ITVX on the following Television platforms; Sony Bravia, BT TV, Freesat, Now TV / Roku, Sky, Samsung Smart TV & Blu-ray players, Virgin Media and YouView. It can be streamed on Games consoles including, PlayStation 3, Xbox One and Xbox 360 and the following mobile platforms - Android devices, iOS devices and Windows Phone. Plus other streaming services like Amazon Prime Video.

How much will ITVX cost?

ITVX is free for people who watch the ad-supported tier and they can access 9,000 hours of TV. But if viewers want to go ad-free they can choose to pay £5.99 a month or £59.99 a year to gain access to additional shows and boxsets from BritBox. 

Can I watch ITVX on my TV?

Yes, according to ITV you can watch ITVX on Samsung Smart TVs (models from 2016 onwards) and Roku TV's. But if you have another model, fear not, as you can watch content on the app via the Amazon Fire TV stick, FreeView Play, or NOW TV. But if that's not enough, you can cast to your TV from your iOS device, phone and tablets, android phones and tablets and Sky Glass.

10 ways to save money when shopping with Amazon

1. Sign up to a Prime membership

If you regularly shop on Amazon, it's worthwhile becoming an Amazon Prime member - even if it's just for the free postage. Membership guarantees free and fast delivery, exclusive member-only discounts on select items, and early access to Amazon sale events, as as access to Prime Video, 12 months free Deliveroo Plus and more.

You can start by signing up for a free 30-day trial. If satisfied, an annual membership will set you back £95 (or you can pay a monthly fee of £8.99, but this is a more expensive way to pay as it will cost you £107.88 over the course of 12 months rather than the annual fee of £95). If you know there is a Prime sale event on the horizon (there's usually one in July, one in October and the Black Friday sale at the end of November) then you can time your trial to coincide and bag some bargains.

2. Use 'Subscribe and Save'

If you regularly buy consumable items from Amazon, like toiletries, nappies or laundry products, then Subscribe and Save could help you save money. Subscribe and save offers up to 15 per cent off the original price of these when you schedule repeat deliveries of these items. The good news is that it's flexible too. You can choose a repeated delivery time frame that suits you and Amazon will additionally check in with you via email before shipping your products to ensure they're still required.

"There is no commitment once you subscribe," reads the Subscribe and Save information page. "We will send you a reminder email before each delivery showing the items, price and any applicable discount. Skip your deliveries if you have enough already, or cancel your subscriptions at any time."

3. Save even more with Subscribe and Save vouchers

Savings on savings. Yes, you read that right. In addition to the 15% off repeated delivery items, you can also get exclusive Subscribe and Save vouchers that can be applied on top of the original discount. These additional vouchers boast extra deals that vary from five to 20 per cent off. They're not all Amazon brand items either, with many of these Subscribe & Save vouchers also applying to well known household names like Finish, Andrex, Listerine and Garnier.

4. Keep your eyes peeled for Amazon vouchers

As families are probably used to with the weekly food shop, coupons are a great way to cut the cost of your shopping, and Amazon is no exception. To reap the rewards, check out the Amazon Voucher homepage to see the exciting deals. Some are percentage based - with up to 60 per cent off products like clothing, footwear, tech and toiletries, while others specify an amount, e.g. save £3.00.

Applying them to your order couldn't be easier. Simply select the 'collect voucher' button on the deals page and then after you've added all your items, head to your basket where the voucher will automatically apply.

You might even see money off promotions on a specific product page, which could be a small percentage off, or a buy one get one free offer. If you want to redeem the offer, just click on the promotion link and you'll see it applied when you check-out.

5. Shop Amazon's Daily Deals

While the most deals drop during big sale events, like Prime Day, there are always offers available thanks to Amazon's Daily Deals. These boast discounts on thousands of different products like books, toys, baby gear, personal hygiene products, clothing, electronics and more. "Amazon offers two types of one-off deals: "Deals of the Day", running daily for 24 hours from 00.01am to 11.59pm and "Lightning Deals", posted as often as every 15 minutes and lasting between two and six hours," explains MoneySavingExpert Martin Lewis. You can find both of these on the Today's Deal homepage. And they'll often highlight how long the offer is available for.

Another clever money-saving hack is to select the 'Upcoming' category link on the side-bar of the deal page. This will come up with a hundreds of future deals - some of which might be expensive products you're wanting to treat yourself to but want to pounce on at the right deal-saving time. It'll show you the items and when the deals are expected to go live. So make sure you set a reminder to save those £££s.

6. Check out the Amazon Warehouse

Save money when shopping pre-owned items with Amazon. Be it big name electronics, baby essentials like the best pushchairs or handy kitchen gadgets like slow cookers, the retailer has thousands of previously purchased and refurbished products available to buy online that are like new and significantly cheaper that buying brand new.

As Martin Lewis explained during a recent appearance on This Morning, Amazon Warehouse is where you can buy items that have been returned to Amazon by other customers. In some cases, the item may be completely unused, but the box is missing, or slightly damaged.

The good news is that each product up for sale on Amazon Warehouse goes through a rigorous quality control check, so you'll know what condition it's in before you decide to purchase. Amazon says: "We thoroughly test the functional and physical condition of each item and give the product a specific grade before selling it. We also inspect our products for missing accessories and packaging damage."

After this testing process, the item will be given one of the following condition categories:

• Used - Like New: Almost perfect working condition. The item is fully functioning and comes with all relevant accessories but may bear some minimal damage.
• Used - Very Good: An item in very good condition will work as it should but could feature some minor cosmetic flaws. "It may arrive with damaged packaging or be repackaged and could be missing some non-essential accessories," Amazon adds.
• Used - Good: 'Good' products will show signs from moderate use previously. There could be some scratches, missing accessories and it might not come in it's original packaging.
• Used - Acceptable: "An item may have clear signs of usage but still serves its main function," Amazon states. Expect more visible scratches, dents and a few worn corners. Plus some parts may have been replaced to ensure it works properly again.

7. Bag a bargain with Amazon Outlet

From refurbished to discontinued and overstocked items , Amazon Outlet is another sub-section to know about when trying to save money when shopping with Amazon. "Amazon Outlet is becoming the go-to place for customers to shop for highly discounted markdowns, overstock deals and clearance products," says the retailer. "Amazon Outlet offers a wide selection of items, such as Car & Motorbike products, electronics, clothing and toys." Check out the Amazon Outlet store for yourself and see what savings you could nab.

8. Save when you choose No-Rush shipping

If you're shopping on Amazon and you don't need your order the next day, why not chose a more flexible delivery option? Not only is it better for the environment, but sometimes Amazon will reward you for it too. "No-Rush Shipping helps us prioritize our fastest deliveries for customers with urgent needs," Amazon states on their No-Rush shipping Q+A page. In return for being more flexible, Amazon will add either an automatic discount to your current order or give you a reward to apply on your next order. No-Rush shipping usually means it will arrive in 3-5 days. It's worth noting that if you later cancel or change the speed of your delivery, the discount will no longer be valid.

9. Prime 'Try Before You Buy'

If you want to buy clothes or shoes for the family on Amazon, and you're a Prime member, then you can take advantage of the mega retailer's Try Before You Buy service. This means you place your order, and get a few days to try it on before you are charged. You get seven days to try them out, and you'll be charged for any items you decide to keep. You'll see a Prime Try Before You Buy badge on all eligible items, which can include women's, men's, kids' and baby clothing as well as shoes, bags and accessories.

10. Make the most of Amazon sale events

Amazon holds at least two sale events each year that are exclusive to Prime members. The mega retailer usually holds one in July, and for the last couple of years, Amazon has added another two-day sale event to the calendar in October. While these haven't been called Prime Day, they are essentially the same thing - 48 hours of discounts for those with a Prime membership. Amazon can also be relied upon to hold a Black Friday and Cyber Monday event too - this sale is often longer than 48 hours, with discounts often available for more than a week (although the specific deals change during that time). This year, keep your eyes peeled for huge discounts on Amazon products like the Fire Stick or bestselling Amazon Echo Kids devices, amongst the thousands of products discounted.

Following the US Open, tennis fans are eager to get their next fix - and many are wondering how to watch Laver Cup 2022.

The Laver Cup - named after Australian tennis legend Rod Laver - is a unique tournament that sees the best male tennis players out there come together to form 'Team Europe' and 'Team World', competing against each other in a three day event. It comes at then end of the 2022 tennis season, with the next even being the Australian Open in January.

Questions have arisen over who will be playing in this year's tournament, following news of Roger Federer's retirement - leaving many wondering how much he's worth - and Rafael Nadal pulling out of Wimbledon, plus many British tennis fans are hoping to see Andy Murray taking part too. But look no further, we've got all the details on who will be competing and how to watch Laver Cup 2022.

How to watch Laver Cup 2022 in the UK

The Laver Cup will be shown in the UK on Eurosport and discovery +. Every day will be broadcast live on Eurosport, eurosport.co.uk and the Eurosport app, while the tournament can be watched on demand via discovery+.

For UK viewers, Eurosport is available via BT Sport, Sky Sports, Virgin Media and Amazon Prime Video. BT customers will need to purchase either the ‘Big Sport’ or ‘VIP’ offering, while Sky customers can watch with the Sky Sports package. Amazon Prime Video subscribers can add Eurosport for £6.99 a month, while Virgin Media customers have access to Eurosport with no extra cost.

Discovery+ is available to purchase through the streaming service's website. However, new subscribers can get a seven day free trial that will enable them to watch the entirety of the Laver Cup for free. 

When is the Laver Cup 2022?

The Laver Cup starts on Friday 23 September and finishes on Sunday 25 September. The tournament will kick off at 1pm on the Friday, with the final Sunday session kicking off at 7pm. 

The event takes place every year, two weeks after the US Open. This year is the fifth edition of the tournament and it is taking place in London for the first time, at The O2.

Is Roger Federer playing in the Laver Cup 2022?

Roger Federer is playing in the Laver Cup, and his first match is during the Friday night session in the doubles. His partner for the match is Rafael Nadal, and the pair will be playing against Jack Sock and France Tiafoe.

However, the Laver Cup 2022 will be Federer's last tournament before his retirement. 

The Swiss player announced he would be retiring from tennis on 15 September 2022 with a video posted on his Twitter account, in which he said, "The Laver Cup next week in London will be my final ATP event. I will play more tennis in the future, of course, but just not in Grand Slams or on the tour."

The tournament sees the 'Big Four' - Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic,  Andy Murray and Rafael Nadal - compete together for the first time in Laver Cup history. The last time all four played in the same tournament together was the 2019 Australian Open - with Djokovic defeating Nadal in the final.

The Big Four have a total of 66 Grand Slam titles between them, and along with their other teammates Casper Ruud and Stefanos Tsitispas, Team Europe are coached by 11-time Grand Slam champion Bjorn Borg.

When is Handmaid’s Tale season 5 out in the UK?  

There is currently no official UK air date for The Handmaid's Tale season 5. However, we expect the next series to arrive on UK screens around mid November 2022 (following the confirmed US release date of September 14). 

We've based this on the season 4 timeline - which saw the UK release date arrive two months after it premiered to US viewers on Hulu. In America, season 4 dropped on April 28, 2021. It then was broadcast on Channel 4 in the UK from June 20, 2021 onwards.

Season 4 saw the arrival of new teenage Wife Esther Keyes, played by McKenna Grace. Now forced into Handmaid servitude because of her hand in helping June and the other Handmaid’s stay hidden from Gileadean authorities, season 5 could see fiery Esther pick up where June left off. 

In an interview with Hollywood Reporter, Grace said “I feel like there’s only one June. But there is the whole rebellion and there are all of these other girls. So, there’s one June, and I supposed there’s one Esther as well! She added: "I think she [Esther] definitely can be part of this rebellion and the new generation of Handmaids. She will cause quite a stir.” 

Where can I watch The Handmaid's Tale season 5 in the UK?

Channel 4 will be airing the Handmaid’s Tale season 5. Viewers will be able to watch the episodes weekly as they air, or later on Channel 4 catch-up service, All 4. Both are free to view. 

Channel 4 has hosted all previous seasons of the show. For those wanting to watch all previous seasons of the Handmaid’s Tale, they are all available to stream through Amazon Prime Video, with a Prime membership. Amazon Prime membership costs £7.99 per month for a monthly subscription, or £79 per year for an annual membership. This includes all benefits that come with the membership. There is a 30 day free trial available prior to any commitment.

The Handmaid’s Tale - Season 4 recap 

The season begins with June’s survival confirmed, after the season 3 ending saw her shot by a Guardian. Taking refuge at the safe house of Commander and Mrs Keyes, the other surviving Handmaid’s were able to give June - who got very sick before she got better - some medical care. The elderly and slightly confused Commander Keyes, is unaware his farm is being used as a safe place. The teenage Mrs Keyes reveals that her husband isn’t fertile, but in his quest for a child has her routinely raped by other men in the hope of producing one. When one of Esther’s attackers is found trespassing on the farm, June tells Esther she is to kill him - she completes this instruction. 

It’s not long before Guards arrive at the Keyes farmhouse asking questions about the escaped Handmaids. June immediately ushers everyone out, sneaking into Jezebels to ask a fellow member of the Mayday resistance where they can safely hide next. Through Mayday, June finds out that members of the Gilead military are headed to Jezebels for a final party before leaving for Chicago to fight. Also learning that Esther has been trying to poison Commander Keyes, June asks her for the poison recipe. This is to allow her to poison the Guards arriving at Jezebels, and the Handmaids can leave safely. While at the farm with Esther, Jezebels is raided and the Handmaids hiding there escape. June Is captured and tortured into revealing the location of the escaped Handmaids - which she resists.

June is unrelenting in her mission to protect the other Handmaids, until she is brought to see Hannah - who no longer recognises her. She is told Hannah will be harmed if she doesn’t cooperate. The Handmaids are captured when June gives up their position and along with June, are taken to a Magdalene Colony accompanied by Aunt Lydia. Here, they will work all day but still be expected to try and become pregnant for Commanders by night. When their driver steps out for a toilet break, the Handmaids overthrow Aunt Lydia and escape the vehicle. Two are shot in the process, and Alma and Brianna are hit by a train. Only June and Janine survive. Meanwhile in Canada, Serena Joy is given the news in custody that she is pregnant.

Making their way to Chicago, June and Janine join rebel fighters hiding out in a disused rock climbing gym. Their leader says they can only stay in exchange for sex, and Janine offers to be the to do it. In Canada, Serena Joy summons Rita and tells her about the baby - she doesn’t want Fred to know about it. Realising Serena’s kindness is a ploy to get her to stand up for her in court, Rita immediately goes to Fred to tell him about the baby. In Gilead, Aunt Lydia is being forced to retire following her series of blunders with the Handmaids in her care. She makes a deal with Commander Lawrence that he’ll get her position reinstated in return for her passing him secrets about the other commanders. 

Gilead bomb Chicago and a disorientated June can’t find Janine in the aftermath. Moira, working for international aid with Canada, finds June. Moira’s girlfriend says they can’t possibly take Gilead’s number 1 most wanted Handmaid with them -  it will jeopardize their future aid work if they take her. Not listening, Moira sneaks June onto their escape boat anyway. Hannah and Janine are left behind. 

June becomes an asylum seeker and is staying in a hotel with Luke while it’s made official. She is then reunited with Nichole, Rita, and Emily. An angry June learns of Serena’s pregnancy and visits her in custody. Serena initially believes the visit is for the two to make amends, but June makes it clear that she only wishes Serena to feel the same pain and suffering she’s inflicted on others. In desperation to keep her baby, Serena teams up with Fred reluctantly, for them to both fight June in court together and stand a chance of keeping their child. 

In court, June recounts her life of imprisonment with the Waterfords, and the life a Handmaid was expected to endure. Fred defends his actions, using the rising Gilead birth rate as a reason Handmaids are so important. The first uncomfortable inkling that Gilead beliefs are infiltrating Canada comes when a group of Waterford fans and supporters arrive at the court to cheer the Waterfords on. June begins attending a former Handmaid support group and the attendees are disgusted when Emily’s former Aunt Irene attends a meeting. She asks for Emily’s forgiveness, and she refuses to grant it. Later driving to Irene’s house to ask if she’d testify against Gilead, Emily finds her dead by suicide. Back in the support group, Emily admits she felt glad about Irene’s death, and hoped she had something to do with it. 

June tries to enlist Commander Lawrence to help her get Hannah into Canada - he refuses. She instead turns to Nick, who says he’ll do everything he can to help her. The two are still caught in their feelings for each other, kissing at every opportunity. June also learns that Janine has been delivered back to Aunt Lydia. Janine hears of a new and insubordinate Handmaid about to be punished by the Aunts. Learning that it’s Esther Keyes, she kindly warns Esther just to do as she’s told - a lesson Janine learned when they removed her eye for talking back. In Canada, Serena is visited by Naomi and Warren Putnam who tell her her child belongs to Gilead. Naomi is full of warnings that the baby could be taken away, assuring Serena she’d be the one to take care of it should this happen. Warren tells Fred he is unlikely to be welcomed back to Gilead.

June reacts badly when told that Fred has had all charges against him dropped. He will be working with the Canadian government to uncover the secrets of Gilead, in exchange for freedom. Not willing to let this happen, June hatches a plan with Tuello and Commander Lawrence: Gilead will exchange 22 women working for the resistance, in exchange for delivering Fred back to them. Thinking he’s on his way to an immunity hearing, Fred is taken to Gilead and taken by Commander Lawrence and Nick. June arrives and passionately kisses Nick in front of an astounded Fred before June is left alone with Fred. June asks Fred to choose between a gun and a whistle.

Choosing the gun, June then uses the whistle to summon a band of murderous former Handmaids and they chase a terrified Fred through the woods. The women brutally murder him, before hanging him from a wall. They decorate the wall with Fred’s own words “Nolite te bastardes carborundorum”, roughly translated from Latin as “don’t let the bastards grind you down”. June removes Fred’s wedding ring finger to deliver to Serena in the post. Returning to the house she shares with Luke covered in blood, Luke is horrified when he puts two and two together and realises what June’s done. Telling him she’ll give Nichole one final cuddle then go, season 4 draws to a close.

What will the plot be in The Handmaid’s Tale season 5?

The Handmaid’s Tale season 5 is expected to see June facing the consequences of Commander Waterford’s murder, and the widowed Serena raising her profile in Canada. June and Luke are expected to continue their mission to reunite with Hannah.  

According to Hollywood Reporter, the official synopsis reads: “June faces consequences for killing Commander Waterford while struggling to redefine her identity and purpose. The widowed Serena attempts to raise her profile in Toronto as Gilead’s influence creeps into Canada. Commander Lawrence works with Aunt Lydia as he tries to reform Gilead and rise in power. June, Luke and Moira fight Gilead from a distance as they continue their mission to save and reunite with Hannah”.

They continued to report that on killing Fred, June actress Elisabeth Moss said “June was not going to all of a sudden get a little therapy and be fine. It couldn’t be that way; that’s not how life works. It was really important to me and so I feel like there’s no way for June to end up in any other place but that. She has been changed too much. Her life is this war on Gilead and that’s her purpose in life. There’s nothing else that can be done”.

Fans on social media appear to overwhelmingly want to see Serena face her comeuppance in season 5, with many hoping to see her become a Handmaid. One wrote “I want season 5 of the Handmaid's Tale to drop. I just can't wait to see Serena become a handmaid. She deserves all the pain in the world OKAY!” Another agreed, saying “where is the Handmaid’s Tale season 5? I need to watch serena become a handmaid already”.

In a shock announcement, Emily actress Alexis Bledel will not be returning to the show for season 5. In a statement, the actress said "After much thought, I felt I had to step away from The Handmaid's Tale at this time. I am forever grateful to [creator] Bruce Miller for writing such truthful and resonant scenes for Emily, and to Hulu, MGM, the cast and crew for their support".

New character Mrs Wheeler played by Genevieve Angelson, is set to be a big supporter of Serena. Wheeler is a wealthy Canadian women and supporter of Serena's views and everything she's accomplished in Gilead. Speaking to TV Line, the actress said "In order to play Mrs. Wheeler, I couldn’t say ‘I’m playing a bad guy.’ I had to say, ‘I’m playing someone who’s willing to do anything to continue the human race, and that’s what we’re up against. So, do I want to be the person I am being? Maybe not. But I am accepting that is my reality, that is what I’m doing. That was how I got by with that".

Will there be a season 6 of the The Handmaid's Tale?

Yes, season 6 of the The Handmaid's Tale is now confirmed, and this will be the final season of the dystopian drama. 

The news of the sixth and final season came just before the release of now penultimate season 5 - which premiered to US audiences on September 14. Variety reports that show creator, showrunner, and executive producer Bruce Miller, said in a statement "It has been a true honor to tell the story of Margaret Atwood’s groundbreaking novel and chillingly relevant world, and we are thrilled to bring viewers a sixth and final season of ‘The Handmaid’s Tale". He continued "We are grateful to Hulu and MGM for allowing us to tell this story, which unfortunately has remained as relevant as ever throughout its run, and are in awe of our incredible fans for their unwavering support, and without whom we never would have gotten to this point".

Now that the final Grand Slam of the season is upon us, here's how to watch the US Open in the UK.

Some of the biggest names in tennis are taking to the courts as the US Open kicks off, from Andy Murray - who is also the subject of a new documentary - to Rafael Nadal, who will be hoping to extend his number of Grand Slam titles after he was forced to pull out of Wimbledon earlier this year.

Last year's tournament saw a surprise success for Britain, as Bromley-based Emma Raducanu took the title at just 18 years old. It's been a difficult year for Raducanu, but she's back to defend her title and tennis fans will be eager to see how the tournament turns out for. Here's how to watch the US Open from the UK, plus a daily schedule for the competition.

How to watch the US Open in the UK

If you're tuning in from the UK, you can watch the US Open on Amazon Prime Video, which is available on Smart TVs, laptops, mobile phones and games consoles. 

Signing up to Prime Video currently costs £8.99 per month, but you can sign up to a 30-day free trial, which will allow you to watch the entire tournament for free.

New York - where the US Open is held - is five hours behind the UK, so if you miss any of the live action, the matches will be available on demand via Prime Video and highlights will be uploaded to the US Open YouTube channel throughout the tournament.

This will be the final year that the US Open is available on Amazon Prime, as Sky Sports will reclaim the broadcasting rights to the tournament from 2023 onwards. The US Open has been televised by Amazon Prime Video for the past five years, after Sky Sports dropped the tournament in 2017.

How long is the US Open?

The US Open lasts for two weeks, starting on Monday 29 August and finishing on Sunday 11 September.

The first, second and third rounds last for two days each, before the round of 16 begins on 4 September and the quarter finals on 6 September.

Friday 9 September sees the semifinals for both the men's and women's tournament, as well as the men's doubles final.

The mixed doubles final and the women's singles final both take place on 10 September, while the women's doubles concludes on Sunday 11 September before the tournament finishes with the men's final that evening.

US Open location: Where is Flushing Meadows?

Flushing Meadows is a public park in Queens, New York City, and is home to one of the world's most iconic sports facilities. Flushing Meadows has hosted the US Open since 1978.

The main venue at the complex is the Arthur Ashe Stadium, which was opened in 1997, and is the largest tennis venue in the world, with a capacity of more than 23,000 people.

The stadium got its name from the first winner of the US Open after its rebrand from the U.S. National Championships. Arthur Ashe won the tournament in 1968 and won three Grand Slam titles in total.

The other two main venues at Flushing Meadows are the Louis Armstrong Stadium and the Grandstand.

Meanwhile, Cameron Norrie enters the tournament with a chance of winning his first Grand Slam title. He was knocked out of Wimbledon after his semifinal match against Novak Djokovic, but the Serbian player - who was the runner up in the 2021 US Open - will not be competing this year because the US has banned unvaccinated visitors.

Andy Murray, who won the US Open back in 2012, has recently been struggling with a cramping issue and is unseeded for the tournament, but he is through to the second round after defeating Argentina's Francisco Cerundolo.

When is Emma Raducanu playing in the US Open?

Emma Raducanu faces Alize Cornet in her first match of the US Open, which starts at midnight UK time on Tuesday 30 August.

The 19 year-old is a first-class tennis player and fluent in several languages, and is currently ranked number 11. Meanwhile, 32-year-old Alize Cornet from France is ranked at number 40, and is one of the more difficult unseeded players to defeat.

If Raducanu wins the match against Cornet, she will face either Taylor Townsend of the USA or the Czech Republic's Katerina Siniakova in the second round.

Fans won't have to wait too long for Thor: Love and Thunder to be on Disney Plus...

Aussie actor Chris Hemsworth returns again as the loveable blonde and beefy superhero in the fourth installment of the hit franchise - Thor: Love and Thunder. Featuring familiar characters who have crossed over from other movies in the Marvel universe, plus newbie Natalie Portman (and those unmissable Thor end credit scenes) - reviews have been high for the action-packed adventure from both viewers and critics alike.

Those who haven't yet seen the latest Thor caper or fans who simply want to watch the fun all over again are looking ahead to the film being released on Disney+. The streaming giant is the home to recent Marvel hits Doctor Strange: Multiverse of Madness and Eternals. So it's no surprise that the new Thor film will follow suit - and we've got the details on when.

When will Thor: Love and Thunder be on Disney Plus? Confirmed release date

Thor: Love and Thunder will debut on Disney Plus on Thursday 8 September, 2022. Dubbed 'Disney Plus Day' - the fourth Thor film joins a string of other Disney releases premiering that day, including a behind-the-scenes documentary of the movie titled The Making of Thor: Love and Thunder.

The news confirms that fans will have to have waited 2 months (or 63 days) since the theatrical release to enjoy Thor: Love and Thunder on Disney+. This is not too dissimilar to other recent Marvel releases - such as Shang Chi and Eternals - which took around 3 months to appear on Disney+.

In their press release, confirming the Thor: Love and Thunder Disney+ release date, Disney shared that it marked one of 15 "Marvel Cinematic Universe movies now streaming in IMAX Enhanced on Disney+".

Disney also teased the accompanying Marvel Studios Assembled: The Making of Thor: Love and Thunder - which is set to star include Taika Waititi, Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Christian Bale and Tessa Thompson. "Through in-depth interviews with cast and crew, along with raw, unseen footage from the set and beyond, ASSEMBLED pulls back the curtain on the God of Thunder’s fourth feature film," reads the statement.

Will Thor: Love and Thunder be free to watch on Disney Plus?

Yes, Disney have confirmed that Thor: Love and Thunder will be free to watch when it premieres on Disney Plus. "No additional cost or device required," reads a statement, announcing the fourth Thor film's arrival on the streaming platform.

Other recent Marvel films like Eternals and Doctor Strange: Multiverse of Madness were also free to view when they first arrived on the streaming giant (and continue to be free to watch today).

Is Thor: Love and Thunder on Amazon Prime?

No, Thor: Love and Thunder is not currently available to rent or watch on Prime Video. Some film fans have been asking this question due to the 'Home premiere' option on Prime that sees recent cinematic releases available to rent and watch at home instead.

In time, the newest Thor movie could eventually end up on Prime Video. However, for now Thor: Love and Thunder is set to be available to watch on Disney Plus first (as Disney owns Marvel). The Walt Disney Company paid $4 billion for Marvel Entertainment in August 2009.

Will Thor: Love and Thunder be on Netflix?

No, Thor: Love and Thunder is not available to watch on Netflix and it's unlikely it will be in the future. As Disney owns Marvel and the rights of the whole Thor film franchise, it's only destined to premiere on Disney+ instead of Netflix.

Thor: Love and Thunder - original release date

Thor: Love and Thunder was officially released in UK cinemas on July 7, 2022. Australia had a slightly earlier release date of July 6 - we're guessing on account of Aussie actor Chris Hemsworth being lead. Whilst American audiences had to wait till July 8 to see the latest installment in theatres.

The fourth installment was available to watch at cinema chains like Odeon, Vue, Cineworld and Showcase throughout July 2022.

Thor: Love and Thunder - Total running time

Thor: Love and Thunder is 1 hour and 59 minutes (or 119 minutes) in length. Just under the two-hour mark, it's the second longest film in the Thor franchise. Third film Thor: Ragnarok takes the crown for the longest run time at 130 minutes.

Joanna Robinson of The Ringer-Verse podcast shared that director Taika Waititi was under strict instruction to keep the latest Thor caper under the 2 hour mark.

She said: “Taika having a blank check on this is absolutely not the case. He got more leeway than he got with Ragnarok, but there was a mandate to bring this movie in under two hours. This comes in under two hours and they cut a ton of stuff out of this movie.

"Taika is on record as not being [into] director’s cuts," she added. "We know Jeff Goldblum, Peter Dinklage, Lena Headey [were supposed to appear] and Simon Russell Beale appeared as Dionysus and had like two lines in this movie but has an above-the-line credit, so he was definitely supposed to be in this more. Gorr was supposed to come in and kill a bunch of other people.”

Taika Waititi also directed the third Thor film - Ragnarok - which came out in 2017. In a recent interview with Collider, he and lead star Chris Hemsworth revealed that the first cut for Thor: Love and Thunder was actually around the four hour mark.

"It was about four hours," Waititi said. "And a lot of time on set ... We were talking about this before, like when, in the moment, you're like, "This is the greatest thing that anyone's ever filmed in the history of filming things." And you get into the edit. You're like, "I still kind of like it." And then, after about six months of it being in the movie, you realize it was fun on the day but it doesn't have any business being in the movie."

Of the first edit, Chris Hemsworth called it "batshit crazy, wild four-hour cut I've ever seen".

Is Thor: Love and Thunder a hit? Box office performance

Yes, those in the film industry would consider Thor: Love and Thunder a hit with audiences. Official figures show that the Marvel film raked in $303.4 million worldwide at the box office during it's opening weekend.

According to Screen Daily, the fourth film beat all previous debut weekend records set by the previous franchise films. Each Thor film has built upon the previous one's box office success with Thor (2011) grossing $449m, Thor: The Dark World (2013) grossing $645m and Thor: Ragnarok (2017) grossing $854m. It's expected that "Disney’s release of Thor: Love And Thunder has continued the upwards trajectory of Marvel’s hammer-wielding franchise" says the publication.

Thor: Love and Thunder is also yet to be released in China - which is expected to draw in large audiences and additional revenue.

Despite huge success, the latest Thor outing did fail to get the same numbers as fellow Marvel film Doctor Strange: Multiverse Of Madness on it's opening weekend. The Benedict Cumberbach superhero movie raked in $450 million globally during it's debut weekend.

As the show gets a new radio revival, many want to know where to watch Our Friends in the North starring a now infamous crop of British acting talent. 

It was the show that launched the careers of a beloved James Bond actor and a future Doctor Who. Starring Christopher Eccleston, a long-haired Daniel Craig, Notting Hill's Gina McKee and Kingsmen actor Mark Strong - it explored the changing political and social landscape of Britain between the 60s and 90s. In March 2022, it was announced that Our Friends in the North was being re-written for a radio audience. Manchester-born writer Adam Usden has penned a new episode set in 2020. It will air on BBC Radio 4 on Thursdays at 14:15. Though you can always listen via BBC Sounds.

What is Our Friends in the North about?

Our Friends in the North follows four friends living in Newcastle. Starting in the 1960s and ending in 1995 - each episode sees the characters develop and adapt to the changing circumstances of the time over four decades. In addition to exploring the state of personal relationships, storylines include real-life political events like the miners strike and 1990s Westminster cash for questions.

The first episode starts in 1964, introducing us to the four firm friends. The next 2 episodes remain in the 1960s, whilst episodes 4-6 are based in the 1970s. The seventh and eighth episode take place in the 1980s with the ninth and final episode ending in 1995.

Actress Gina McKee picked up the BAFTA for Best Actress in 1997 for her role as Mary in the show. Our Friends in the North also won the BAFTA for Best Drama Serial in the same year. Whilst Christopher Eccleston and Peter Vaughan were also nominated for the Best Actor category.

Interestingly Christopher Eccleston was first offered the role of Geordie (played by Craig). Though he found the character of Nicky more interesting.
