If you've enjoyed Maryland on ITV and want to delve further into that ending, look no further - let's get down to the nitty gritty. 

What do you get when you cross Suranne Jones, Eve Best, Stockard Channing, and an excellent script? Fantastic mystery drama Maryland, that's what. Chalk and cheese sisters Becca and Rosaline were forced to reunite when their mother was found dead in a place nobody knew she had any ties with. Becoming embroiled with their mum's friend Cathy, the pair set about finding what on earth was going on, as disturbing secrets and a double life came bubbling to the surface. The female-centric cast certainly put the perspective of women front and centre, throughout this intriguing 3-part drama. Read on for a full break down of exactly how the mystery reached a conclusion, as we weigh in on the Maryland ending. 

New BBC crime drama Annika has also had fans gripped - Nicola Walker made a triumphant post Unforgotten return with this latest outing. Elsewhere on the channel, how the Steeltown murders culprit was caught years after committing his crimes was the subject of another fascinating drama; DNA advances and a chance encounter allowed police to give victims' families a level of closure.

Maryland ending explained

By the end of Maryland, Becca and Rosaline had unravelled Mary's double life on the Isle of Man. 

Mary had initially travelled to the island in search of her birth mother, once her adoptive mother had passed away. Finding out she'd inherited a house on the Isle of Man was the catalyst to Mary later setting up another home there - she then began a relationship with Pete and formed a strong friendship with Cathy. She then split her time between her former life in Manchester with husband Richard, and the new secret life on the island. Becca and Rosaline had remained completely unaware any of this was happening in their mother's life. 

It also transpired Mary had received a diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease, and when Becca and Rosaline met with Pete, they found he believed Cathy could be involved in Mary's death. Pete explained that he was supporting Mary through her diagnosis, and had vowed to love and care for her until the end - her mysterious death was a shock to him. 

Richard wanted to bring Mary's body back to Manchester, but Cathy revealed video footage of Mary asserting she wanted her body to stay on the Isle of Man if she died. Sister Becca and Ros feel they have no choice but to honor these wishes, despite how angry it made their father. Richard decided he needed to get a look at the man his wife was secretly seeing behind his back, taking a drive with Jim to Pete's house. A hurt and angry Richard eventually agreed Mary's wishes must be taken into account, and heads back to Manchester without her body.  

How did Mary die?

Mary died of a morphine overdose - she had stolen morphine from end-of-life doula Cathy, who had access to it as part of her role. Mary had used it to deliberately end her life due to the Alzheimer's diagnosis.

Pete had believed Cathy had some part in Mary's death, and he had been right to an extent - although Cathy stood firm that she hadn't deliberately supplied Mary with the drugs, and Mary had stolen them from her. Cathy did look guilty for a time, when it came to light that although she had access to morphine for her doula role, she rarely administered it to patients, offering them cannabis instead. She kept the morphine for her own personal use, which initially made it appear she could have deliberately colluded with Mary in the overdose, instead of getting her appropriate help.

Pete tipped off police that Cathy supplied Mary with the drugs, and Cathy admitted they were hers when police paid her a visit. Speaking to Ros about the police visit, Cathy remained vehemently insisting she had no idea Mary had stolen the morphine or intended to take her own life. Police began a full investigation into Cathy anyway, and Ros - believing she really had nothing to do with her mother's death - said she'd put in a good word for her with investigating officers.

What happened to Becca?

Despite marital difficulties with husband Jim, the end of Maryland saw Becca reconciled with him and returning home with Lauren and Molly in tow.

Previously, Becca had found letters Jim brought with him from Manchester written by Mary. Apparently confirming their mother had chosen to take her own life with no foul play involved, a letter addressed to Becca and Ros explained that she wanted them to be free of having to worry and care for her. 

Suranne Jones previously said of her character "You know, she’s had to care for her sister, she’s had to care for her mum, she’s had to care for her family and she’s in that kid of comfortable rut. She almost loses herself in that. She doesn’t really care much for herself - it’s always been about everybody else and she just gets on with it. She discovers herself through this unpleasant experience."

It appears that by acknowledging she previously saw herself as a "ghost" and experiencing this traumatic situation, could have saved Becca's marriage. She could have continued drifting along, putting others first and feeling unfulfilled by not voicing her feelings. Uncovering what happened to Mary gave her the courage to address her unhappy marriage and forge a way to move forward to a better life with Jim - this wouldn't have happened if her mother hadn't died. 

What happened to Rosaline?

Ros decided to stay on the Isle of Man and live in the house Mary left behind. She had found a job to apply for, and began a relationship with Jacob

Having spent most of the series concerned about a medical issue, Rosaline also revealed to Becca she'd been awaiting the results of a biopsy and had been told she was in the clear. The health scare had been an apparent resurgence of an old health problem that had plagued Ros as a youngster. She planned to stay on the island indefinitely, and begin plans for Mary's funeral. 

Ros and Becca's story had come full circle, and they were no longer estranged but had rebuilt their relationship in solving their mother's death. Eve Best said of Ros "For somebody who’s so competent, so intelligent, so ferociously able, to have been so vulnerable at such a young age, and again later on in her life, was very hard. Hating that she had to be 'cared for,' hating feeling that she was somehow failing and inadequate because she needed to be looked after." 

She continued "She’s shut herself off from Becca in particular, while at the same time craving, her whole life, craving that closeness with her mother and the love of her sister." As with Becca's ability to use their situation to rekindle her marriage, Ros has used it to address the issues she's carried from a young age, finally allowing herself to get close to her sister and find love.

If ever there was a reason to get the kids in bed early or the baby to sleep, the return of Nicola Walker in BBC One crime drama Annika is just that.

The much-loved actress, last starred in Hertfordshire-filmed BBC comedy Marriage, but it received mixed reviews and prior to that she starred in Unforgotten but was written out of season five and also the sixth series.

But Nicola has returned to her crime drama roots, playing the lead role of DI Annika Strandhed in the six-part Scottish TV series which is based on the BBC Radio 4 drama Annika Stranded. Viewers want to know more about the show and where it's filmed.

The story is centred on Annika Strandhed, a Detective Inspector in the Scottish police, who recently transferred to the Glasgow-based Marine Homicide Unit (MHU). She brings her teenage daughter with her. And fans will see how Annika's relationship with her daughter develops across all the episodes.

And while some fans are struggling to get their heads around the different style of filming, which often sees Nicola break through the fourth wall to communicate directly with the audience about the current case and personal matters, others have been drawn into the drama.

One fan criticised, "I love and adore Nicola Walker but the first ep was a hard watch. The other actors around her are awful and the 'to camera' bits of it just don't work for me.... Such a shame but I can't watch another episode already. Sorry Nicola you are better than this."

While another praising Nicola's work, "Absolutely love Nicola Walker. Annika is a noir influenced police procedural but better as Nicola breaks the 4th wall."

Speaking about playing Annika, Nicola said in a recent interview, "As everyone knows, I've played a lot of detectives over the years. But I've been Annika a long time now, and if there was a chance of getting her fully fleshed out in a real-world environment, I wanted to be part of it. I was very keen to see how she worked transposed to life in Scotland."

And on the controversial method of speaking to the camera, Nicola admits she first found it challenging, she told Alibi, "On the first day, I kept stopping and laughing. It felt so wrong. But by the end, I was so into it, I was flicking looks at the camera all the time. I'm very worried about my next job now - "why does she keep looking down the lens?" It might have ruined me for the future!"

Annika is on BBC One on Saturdays at 9.15pm and all six episodes are available on BBC iPlayer. Viewers can also stream on Sky Go and NOW. It is also available to watch on the Alibi channel on UKTV on Tuesdays at 9pm.

With Nicola Walker leaving Unforgotten at the end of season 4, there was a lot of heartbreak and concern from fans on how the hit ITV series would go forward. Thankfully any worries have been alleviated with the release of Unforgotten season 5, which has seen audiences and TV critics alike take favourably to Sinead Keenan. Appearing as DCI Jessica 'Jessie' James, viewers finally saw her character and Sanjeer Bhaskaar's beloved DCI Sunny Khan get along better in the penultimate episode - suggesting that crime-solving may be easier for the two going forward.

Following last night's season 5 finale on ITV, many are feeling sad at the prospect of the series coming to an end and want to know whether Unforgotten season 6 is on the cards and if so, when Unforgetten filming will begin. We've shared everything we know so far.

Will there be a season 6 of Unforgotten?

ITV have confirmed that there will be a season 6 of Unforgotten. The broadcaster announced that the show had been renewed after the success of season 5. Actors Sanjeev Bhaskar and Sinead Keenan have both signed on to star in season 6.

Show creator Chris Lang previously told Radio Times that he'd be on board for another series: "Certainly, if they asked me, I’d do a season six. I've got a season six in my head. So yeah, it's down to the broadcaster, whether they asked me to do it."

Lang went on to describe Unforgotten as a "unique show" that requires a lot of work to bring it to life. "It's incredibly difficult to sit down and create it from a blank page, so you need huge reserves of energy and enthusiasm to push you through creating six episodes. And it’s often very emotionally draining stories that you're telling as well, which require lots of research into really dark areas.

"So as long as I have the appetite to keep doing that, and as long as the audience keep coming back to it, there's no reason why I couldn't keep going on," said Lang.

Show creator Chris Lang wasn't the only one hoping for Unforgotten season 6. Actor Lewis Reeves - who plays DC Jake Collier in the show - wasn't able to appear in season 5 due to scheduling conflicts. However he's hinted that he'd like to make a return if another series were to go ahead.

"I spoke to Chris Lang, the writer, and Andy Wilson, the director, and if it goes for season 6, I'm sure they'll welcome DC Jake Collier back," said Reeves. "[That’s] what I’m hearing, so fingers crossed."

Unforgotten season 5 has been well received by viewers and critics alike. The opening episode has now been watched by 8.4 million viewers, which makes it the highest rated ITV drama this year.

One fan on Twitter shared her thoughts on the current series. "I wasn't sure where @ITV #Unforgotten would go post Nicola Walker, but @ChrisLangWriter has absolutely nailed it. @TVSanjeev still the best actor in the UK in my opinion, and his and @SineadKeenan's portrayal of grief this series is 👌🏻. All the awards, please."

@JackPloppy also tweeted: "Okay. I’ll admit it. I was reluctant. But #Unforgotten has me hooked again. and @TVSanjeev @SineadKeenan are just terrific."

Rebecca Nicholson of the Guardian gave the latest series 4 out of 5 stars, hailing it as "still cracking crime drama, even without Nicola Walker". The Telegraph's Arts and Entertainment Editor Anita Singh agreed, giving it 4 stars, adding: "Nicola Walker is missed but Sinéad Keenan makes the role her own."

With such a promising reaction to the fifth series, it's no wonder that ITV have renewed Unforgotten for another run.

All eyes are on Irish actress Sinéad Keenan this February as she steps into a leading role in season 5 of the popular ITV drama. The 45-year-old joins Sanjeev Bhaskar’s DCI Sunny Khan as his new partner-in-crime after Nicola Walker left Unforgotten at the end of series four. Ambitious and hard-working, with a picture perfect family life, DCI Jessica 'Jessie' James at first impression seems to have it all - but Sinéad has teased that there's more than meets the eye with her new Unforgotten character.

As audiences champion Sinéad on screen, many are curious for details on the actress's personal life - from whether she's married to if she's a mother too. We've shared what we know about the star's home life, alongside her career highlights to date.

Who is Sinéad Keenan's husband?

Sinéad Keenan is married to TV and film director Christopher McGill. The couple tied the knot in 2012 and live in London together.

Whilst not much is known about their wedding, a fan page for fellow Irish actor Andrew Scott (of Fleabag fame) shared a photo of Scott in attendance at Sinéad and Christopher's wedding. 

Sinéad's husband Christopher McGill has worked on a number of high profile TV programmes including Eastenders, Casualty and Holby City. In his Twitter bio, Chris states he was "Once upon an Actor," before turning his talents to behind the camera instead. He's also the founder of Dusthouse Theatre, a British-based film production company that creates "unique work for the international theatre and creative arts industries."

Chris was also previously film director at the Royal Shakespeare Company, where he worked on productions including the award winning Matilda, King Lear, Hamlet, Macbeth and Richard II.

Sinéad and her husband Chris both worked on the short film The Snatcher, released in 2020. The film is set in a post-Brexit landscape and centres on a state-run game show called The Snatcher, which sees contestants gamble with their worldly possessions in a bid for a better life.

Does Sinéad Keenan have children?

According to Wikipedia, Sinéad and Christopher share two sons together. In a tweet from December 2022, Sinéad confirmed that her kids are aged seven and five.

The couple remain tight-lipped about their family life, though Sinéad has shared some details of motherhood on her Twitter acccount. In November 2022, she tweeted " Worst thing about Saturday morning? Putting on children’s football socks!!!"

Sinéad grew up in a large family herself and is close to her siblings - brother Rory and sister Grainne - both of whom are also actors. 

Rory Keenan has appeared in film and TV hits such as Peaky Blinders, The Duchess, Versailles, War & Peace and Somewhere Boy. He married British actress Gemma Arterton in 2019 and the two have recently become parents to a baby boy.

Arterton shared the happy news on Zoe Ball's Radio 2 Breakfast Show in February 2023. "We are very very happy, he was born just before Christmas. A little Christmas elf," she said.

Sinéad's sister Grainne studied acting at RADA and her acting credits to date include Blood (alongside Line of Duty's Adrian Dunbar), The Foreigner (2017), The Wife (2017) and Titanic (2012). Grainne will also be appearing in series 5 of Unforgotten alongside her sister. She plays Debbie in episode 3 and episode 4 of the ITV drama.

In an interview with The Mirror in February 2008, Sinéad credited her brother Rory with getting herself and Grainne into acting. 

"We support each other - it's nice we all work in the same business," she said, adding: "So he started the acting thing in the family - our parents aren't in the acting business at all but they are very proud of us."

Sinéad Keenan: Career highlights to date

Sinéad Keenan played werewolf Nina Pickering in BBC Three series Being Human and most recently starred as Di Paula Cassidy in Showtrial.

In 2018, Keenan won the RTS Programme Award for Best Female Actress for her role in Little Boy Blue. In it she played Melanie Jones, the mum of mudered schoolboy Rhys Jones who was shot on his way home from football practice in 2007. Keenan also received a BAFTA nomination for the part.

Her first television role was in the 1999 film Sunburn, where Keenan played Margaret, the teenage girlfriend of Cillian Murphy’s character. After this she joined the cast of Irish soap opera Fair City playing the role of Farrah Phelan.

Of her new role in Unforgotten, Keenan teased: "Jess is the new DCI. She was a fast-tracked cop, one of these ones who have a degree and can skip a few levels. She is very good at her job, very ambitious, and has a promotion. She’s got a husband, two children, perfect life. 

"And then she starts this new job, and on the first day she gets some news on the way to work that completely blindsides her that has implications in terms of how she is at her job. So that’s simmering in the background."

As fan favourite detective series Unforgotten returns to ITV for series 5, we delve into the filming locations used as backdrops for the action. 

Fans were delighted to hear that critically acclaimed detective drama Unforgotten was making a comeback for series 5. It will however, be returning without main protagonist DCI Cassie Stuart (Nicola Walker), leading viewers to ask why did Nicola Walker leave Unforgotten? We have the full lowdown on the reasons behind her departure, and replacement Sinead Keenan. 

As series 5 premieres on February 27 at 9pm, it won't only be the team of London detectives attempting to solve cold cases of disappearance and murder that look different - some of the filming locations for the show have been mixed up this time around. Where is Unforgotten series 5 filmed?

Unforgotten series 5 filmed in Bath, Tilbury, London, and Paris. Series 5 will be the first time the cast have ever filmed in the French capital. 

On June 13, 2022, writer Chris Lang shared a picture to Twitter of himself in Paris. Appearing to be excited to meet Sanjeev Bhaskar in the city, he captioned the photo "Ah bonjour!!! Just arrived in France for the final leg of the #Unforgotten 5 shoot & Paris in the spring is simply stunning. Looking forward to saying 'bienvenue' to @TVSanjeev later ce soir. A bientot!" 

On June 15, 2022, Lang posted a picture from a beautiful street in Paris, where filming had taken place. He captioned this "Et c'est une 'wrap'!! Series 5 of #Unforgotten now in the can. Thankyou to our French crew for their sterling efforts in Paris, see you all on the other side of post production in January. Aurevoir."

Sanjeev Bhaskar, who enjoys sharing pictures of the travels of Sunny's backpack during filming, posted a picture of the infamous bag at the Gare Du Nord in France. He wrote "Fabulous #Unforgotten experience all round.  My thanks also to the cast and crew of S5. I will be posting the French adventures of #sunnybackpack as an extra thing over the next few weeks.  Here's the first:" 

A substantial amount of the series 5 plot will be set in Hammersmith. Lang said in a statement the latest instalment would be "A tantalising murder mystery of course, but also one which holds up a mirror to the state of our nation - and this series perhaps more so than any other." The team's first case involves the discovery of human remains at a property undergoing renovation in Hammersmith. 

Jessie and Sunny are tasked with finding out how long the remains have been there - was the murder carried out in the 1930’s, or more recently? The characters of Jay, Bele, Tony and Karol, become central to the mystery, whom in typical Unforgotten style, initially appear unconnected to the victim. 

Unforgotten series 5 episodes

There will be 6 episodes of Unforgotten altogether. Most new ITV shows usually become a boxset on ITVX once the first episode has aired. However, this won't be the case with Unforgotten.

Viewers will have to watch the show in the traditional way, by waiting for weekly episodes. Only when all 6 have finished airing, will the series become available for watching altogether on ITVX. In a statement about the influences Chris Lang drew upon when writing the new season of the show, his response was a little saddening. He said "When I first started conceiving series 5, I knew I wanted to write about austerity and what effect it had had on our society over the previous 10 years or so."

He continued "I could never have predicted that our country would now be leaning into austerity 2.0, and that all of the ideas and themes that the series lays out, primarily about the failure of modern economic theory to create a fairer society, would be even more painfully relevant today than they were two and a half years ago. Welcome to Unforgotten 5." 

Unforgotten: What happened to Cassie?

Cassie died from brain injuries sustained in a car accident, during the Unforgotten series 4 finale. For fans wondering if this was a ruse and Nicola Walker might return, this is very much not the case.

Speaking to Radio Times about Cassie's death, Nicola Walker revealed a particular reason she felt guilty about leaving the show. She said "On reflection, if we'd known covid was coming, we would have given people a less depressing storyline. I feel guilty because, when it came out, I thought, ‘Crikey, we could have given them something more cheerful. The last thing they need is to be made to feel really sad about this brilliant cop.'"

She added "I’m not on social media, but when the final episode went out, I almost wanted to join Twitter to tell everyone that I didn’t walk away from the show, nor did they ask me to leave. It was simply that Chris and I thought it was a fantastic, impactful story. I love the irony of this brilliant woman dying an accidental death that wouldn’t be investigated in a show about complicated investigations. We hoped people wouldn't feel we were being cruel by serving up this incredibly sad story."

Unforgotten series 5 return: Fan reaction

One viewer sent a tweet to Sanjeev Bhaskar, to wish him luck for the series 5 premiere. They wrote "@TVSanjeev Hi Sanjeev. I am really looking forward to seeing you in series 5 of the brilliant drama Unforgotten @UnforgottenTV I hope your new boss is as cool as your last #unforgotten #GreatTV. 

Another added "just watched unforgotten series 4 in prep for series 5 and I had forgotten how brilliant you all where especially you with the tears and sorrow following cassie's death. Well done incredibly sad let's hope the next series is as good, different but good."

Annoyed they'd have to wait to watch it, another viewer tweeted "I can’t believe I’ll have to miss tonight’s episode, as the other half is working in the evening/night and I’m under strict instructions:’ DO NOT watch it on your own.’" In reference to Sunny's famous backpack, another added "Looking forward to the backpack coming back tonight when  Unforgotten is back on TV. We don't have Nicola Walker anymore, but at least we still have Sunny's backpack."

Unforgotten is back for a fifth series, with one of its main characters notably absent - what’s happened to DCI Cassie Stuart?

Unforgotten has made sporadic appearances on ITV, since it began airing in 2015. Following a team of London detectives as they attempt to solve cold cases of disappearance and murder, the acclaimed series has a plethora of awards under its belt. Each series sees the detectives handle a new case, where apparently unconnected characters are revealed to have a relationship with the victim. With gaps between series of two or three years, viewers were unsure if Unforgotten would be back, but series 5 is set to air on February 27 at 9pm - with a major change. Nicola Walker took the lead role of DCI Cassie Stuart for the first 4 series, but won’t be returning for the latest instalment. 

Irish actress Sinead Keenan will accompany Sanjeev Bhaskar’s DCI Sunny Khan in all new season 5 episodes as DCI Jessica 'Jessie' James. Whilst there's been a cast change, Unforgotten is filmed in the same locations as before, with the moody landscapes matching the dramatic action on screen. We've also got all the details on what the future holds for the show and what's been said of a potential Unforgotten season 6.

 Why did Nicola Walker leave Unforgotten?

Nicola Walker’s exit from the show had been planned from series 3, as the creators felt narratively, Cassie had reached the end of her story. Walker herself was in agreement with this. 

In the penultimate series 4 episode, Cassie was involved in a collision while driving. She was physically and mentally exhausted from returning to police work when she’d wanted to remain signed off - she had missed the car speeding towards her. Although it initially appeared that she’d pull through, it later transpired she’d not regain brain activity and would pass away. 

Speaking to TV Insider, Walker and series creator Chris Lang spoke about their vision for Cassie’s end. Walker said “We were talking from the beginning, really, about what he was doing with this character and this story he wanted to tell. Chris and I were always interested in looking at the cost of being involved with these sorts of cases that we all love watching on television. Cassie does not have superpowers. She’s an ordinary person who’s really good at her job, and it took her to the place of having an emotional breakdown.”

The actress added “We talked a lot after Season 3 about where it was going to go, and it was a joint decision. I think the clues were there in Season 3. The title of the show is Unforgotten and I think there’s a great deal of narrative beauty to this woman. She’s not going to be forgotten. I felt like she was quietly very unusual on television because she was a real person.”

Viewers were devastated when scenes in the show depicted Cassie’s elderly father receiving news of his daughter’s death. The pair had been fighting in recent months, and Cassie’s final voicemail to him was a promise of putting their differences aside, to enjoy the years they had left together. In the final moments of the show, Sunny was seen placing flowers on Cassie’s grave, with a headstone shown to read “She longest lives, who most to others gives, herself forgetting.”

Who is Sinead Keenan and what has she been in before? 

Sinead Keenan replaces Nicola Walker in Unforgotten, as DCI Jessica "Jessie" James. The Dublin born actress is probably best known to viewers for the role of werewolf Nina Pickering on BBC Three's supernatural series, Being Human.

Keenan's first television role was in the 1999 film Sunburn, as the teenage girlfriend of Cillian Murphy’s character. Small guest roles in Taggart, Doctors, and Moving Wallpaper followed, among other minor television roles. Undoubtedly, Keenan’s breakout role was as Nina Pickering in Toby Whithouse's Being Human. 

Her role was supposed to be a small one, but her chemistry with on-screen boyfriend Russell Tovey was so believable, the storyline involving their characters was edited to keep her in the show. Staying for a second series, werewolf Nina was upgraded to a main cast member by the third series. Following Being Human, Keenan went on to appear in Agatha Christie's Poirot, Silent Witness, Doctor Who, and a leading role in Showtrial. Eagle eyed viewers might also have spotted her in Derry Girls series 3, episode 3 as Aideen.

 Sinead Keenan spoke about portraying the recently promoted Jessie in the show, who replaces Cassie. Of her character, she said “She’s got a husband, two children, perfect life. And then she starts this new job, and on the first day she gets some news on the way to work that completely blindsides her that has implications in terms of how she is at her job. So that’s simmering in the background.”

Keenan added “She’s not where she should be head wise, because she is good at her job, but she is not showing them that. So to add insult to injury, they’ve lost the brilliant Cassie, and they’ve got this eejit coming in who doesn’t seem to be on the ball.”

The actress described her co-star, Sanjeev Bhaskar, as “the nicest man in showbiz” in a statement. She said “Honest to God, in between scenes, you sit down and fold your arms and just wait for him to entertain you with his anecdotes. He’s a dream. He's so lovely.”

Will there be a season 6 of Unforgotten?

There has been no official announcement regarding series 6 of Unforgotten, but the show creators have suggested they have one planned out, should another season be greenlit. 

Speaking to the Radio Times, creator Chris Lang said “Certainly, if they asked me, I’d do a season 6. I've got a season 6 in my head. So yeah, it's down to the broadcaster, whether they asked me to do it.”

He added “It's a unique show, in that it's got a format that is self-contained, but with a certain degree of serialised elements through the characters. And as long as people keep watching it, and we can keep making it well… at the point where either I don't feel I can contribute to it, or make it better, obviously I'd stop. But at the moment we haven't hit that point yet.”

He concluded by saying “It's incredibly difficult to sit down and create it from a blank page, so you need huge reserves of energy and enthusiasm to push you through creating six episodes. And it’s often very emotionally draining stories that you're telling as well, which require lots of research into really dark areas. So as long as I have the appetite to keep doing that, and as long as the audience keep coming back to it, there's no reason why I couldn't keep going on.”
