Channel 4 announce BIG change to The Great British Bake Off 2019
Bake Off fans, listen up - we've got some great news for those of your waiting not-so-patiently for the next series to begin!
In news that’s bound to delight and reassure its ever-loyal viewers, Channel 4 have announced that they are set to screen at least three more series of The Great British Bake Off. But that’s not all.
For the first time, Channel 4 viewers will be treated to a Junior Bake Off too.
Three series of Junior Bake Off have been commissioned to run over the next three years. Junior Bake Off was screened on CBBC before its companion series moved to Channel 4, but this is the first time it’ll be seen on Channel 4.
There will be 15 episodes per series and in an exciting change, each episode will be double length, lasting for one hour rather than thirty minutes.
The original format saw forty budding bakers aged 9-12 compete to be crowned Junior Bake Off champion. 11-year-old Nikki from Middlesex won the most recent series, when her Tiered Royal Garden Cake sealed the deal in the final Showstopper Challenge of the competition.
Allegra McEvedy and Nadiya Hussain acted as judges, while Sam Nixon and Mark Rhodes (also known as Sam & Mark or Smark) presented the show. There’s currently no word on who will present or judge the rebooted version, but it is expected to consist of a series of Technical Bakes and Showstopper Challenges once again.

Ian Katz, who is Channel 4’s Director of Programmes, said he was ‘delighted’ at the prospect of ‘discovering a new generation of British baking talent’. The news comes after Channel 4 agreed a new partnership deal with Love Productions, the production company that makes the series.
When will The Great British Bake Off and Junior Bake Off air?
The tenth series of The Great British Bake Off is set to air later this year, as is the new Junior Bake Off spin-off series. Judges and presenters for the adult version have yet to be confirmed, but we’ve got our fingers crossed that Prue Leith and Paul Hollywood will be back to pull the contestants up on their soggy bottoms, with Noel Fielding and Sandi Toksvig on hand to oversee all the goings-on in the tent.
