Matt Tebbutt confirmed as new regular host of Saturday Kitchen

'Matt will be doing the show much more regularly soon'

Matt Tebutt has been confirmed as the new regular host of BBC One's Saturday Kitchen.

The TV chef, 43, has featured on the show as a guest presenter in recent months, and now the channel has confirmed that he'll have a regular hosting slot, appearing on our screens to front the popular cookery show every other week.

The news was announced on the Saturday Kitchen Twitter account and later confirmed to Express.co.uk, after fans praised his work in front of the camera.

When one commenter tweeted to Matt: 'love love love you on @SaturdayKitchen - I hope you will continue a lot more regularly... you definitely bring the humour', the show's account quickly responded: 'Matt will be doing the show much more regularly soon!'

Replying to another fan who demanded Matt be kept on as a permanent presenter, they added: 'you'll be pleased to hear that you'll be seeing a lot more of @matt_tebbutt as soon he will be hosting every other week!'

Matt's previous work includes the Channel 4 programme Food Unwrapped, as well as shows such as Drop Down Menu, Great British Menu and Great British Food Revival.

The news of Matt's appointment comes after previous host James Martin confirmed that he would be quitting the show back in February 2016, after 10 years in the role.

'I would like to personally thank all the viewers for turning Saturday Kitchen into a three million-plus smash hit. I could not have done it without them,' he said of his departure at the time.

'I would also like to thank the BBC and Saturday Kitchen for the great opportunity they gave me. It has been an amazing journey and I have been privileged to work with some of the world's greatest chefs and some of the greatest names in showbiz. I wish the new chefs every success.'

'I am looking forward to getting stuck into my new projects and to lots of lie-ins on a Saturday morning.'

In the interim period, many other celebrity chefs have taken the Saturday Kitchen presenting helm, including Lorraine Pascale, MasterChef judge John Torode, Ching-He Huang and Gennaro Contaldo.
