Sunday Brunch: 11 things we BET you didn't know about the show

Sunday Brunch has become one of the nation's favourite TV shows, like a comforting blanket that will always be there for you every Sunday morning.

Watching it as you sip your cuppa is probably one of your favourite weekend rituals, mostly because how can you not love Tim Lovejoy and Simon Rimmer, right?

But how much do you really know about Sunday Brunch? We've uncovered its most interesting secrets, including the question that's on everyone's minds - why is no one eating those delicious croissants?!

1. Simon Rimmer and Tim Lovejoy ARE good friends!

Speaking to GoodtoKnow, Simon revealed that he and Tim are actually really good friends and even go on family holidays together.

'Tim is one of my best mates, I see him loads. We went on holiday together to Miami at New Year, me and all my lot, him and all his lot, we had fantastic time', Simon said.

But even though they spend a lot of time together, the two never cook for each other: 'That's the last thing I want to do. I cook for him every Sunday morning, but he's never cooked for me.'

2. There isn't an audience on Sunday Brunch...

Sometimes we hear enthusiastic laughing coming from the studio, but does Sunday Brunch have an audience? Sadly not, otherwise we'd be the first in line.

In a funny FAQs post on their official Facebook page, it was revealed that the laughs we can hear are coming from the crew behind the cameras - they must really love their job...

3. No one actually knows where Sunday Brunch is filmed

Many fans of the show frequently ask this on social media, but Sunday Brunch prefer to keep their location secret.

If you're really curious however, the production company behind Sunday Brunch, Princess Studios, is based in West London so maybe we're getting warmer?

4. Simon Rimmer and Tim Lovejoy STILL get nervous before the show

Speaking to GoodtoKnow, Simon revealed he still gets nervous before going live on Sunday Brunch every week.

'I think every single show there's a moment of nervousness, of anxiousness. But it's good nerves. Nerves in our show is because you want it to be great, so there's always that little moment when you realised you're going into millions of people' front rooms. You're their company for three hours', Simon said.

5. Things don't always go to plan...

Sunday Brunch is broadcast live, so anything can happen - literally. Sunday Brunch guests can be extremely unpredictable, which obviously results in great television moments that we'll always remember.

Our top three include politician-come-dancer Ed Balls performing a Gangnam Style routine and almost taking a tumble; Made in Chelsea's Louise Thompson saying a naughty word; and Sam Faiers not being exactly sure how to cook her own recipe when she was there as a celebrity chef... But it's all part of the fun!

Simon and Tim also often forget they're live on television when they start chatting to guests, which can lead to some very funny moments.

'So many things that go wrong, like when you get caught having a private conversation with someone and you forget that you're back on air', Simon tells us.

6. There was a Sunday Brunch spin off show

Yes, there was a time when you could get your Sunday Brunch fix more than once a week.

In 2014, as well as hosting their main Sunday show, Simon and Tim presented a spin-off show called Daily Brunch, sponsored by Ocado, which aired on weekdays.

7. Simon Rimmer almost got fired

What would Sunday Brunch be without good old Simon? Thankfully we won't have to be confronted with that sad reality any time soon, but it was apparently a lucky escape.

In one episode, Tim revealed Simon almost got the sack after enraging a group of niche viewers - the nation's knitters.

'It was that close. Basically I said, "Does anybody knit anymore?"', Simon explained, before Tim told him: 'Don't do it again!'

8. There are rumours the Sunday Brunch studio is haunted...

All live shows come with a dose of technical issues, and Sunday Brunch is no exception. Viewers recently complained about weird noises that could be heard while Tim and Simon were talking, with some asking if the studio had ghosts. Could it be?

9. You can find out who'll be appearing on Sunday Brunch before it starts!

If you've ever wondered 'who are the Sunday Brunch guests today?' then we're going to let you in on a secret - you can actually find out in advance by keeping a close eye on their social media accounts, so make sure you follow their Twitter or like them on Facebook to keep on top of who's going to be cooking with Simon and Tim.

10. Sunday Brunch has its own Spotify playlist

If you're a fan of the tunes you hear on the show, you'll be happy to know you can follow the Sunday Brunch guys on Spotify and recreate the show in your own kitchen - minus the celeb guests (unless you have connections)...

They currently have over 180 songs on there, ranging from recent pop hits to good old classics, to help you have a little boogie while you bake (or cook!)

11. The croissants on Sunday Brunch are real!

Yes, they are! If you're anything like us you'll have noticed the croissants in the corner on every show. This left one viewer so bemused about whether or not they were real that they took to Twitter in search of the answer - all because we never see Sunday Brunch guests taking a bite.

The people behind Sunday Brunch replied saying they are indeed real, but the jury was still out as to why guests are reluctant to take a bite live on the show. Maybe too messy for live television?

Although thanks to a recent tweet from the official Sunday Brunch account however, we can now confirm guests do eat the croissants - just not while we can see them!
