Holby City actor John Michie confirms death of his daughter Louella

A 28-year-old man is being held on suspicion of murder

Holby City actor John Michie is having to deal with the heartbreaking news that his daughter, Louella, was found dead at this year's Bestival music festival in Dorset.

Police were called to a wooded area at Dorset's Lulworth Estate, where the festival was being held for the first time, at around 1am after revellers became concerned for the welfare of a 25 year old woman.

The body was confirmed to be Louella Michie, and is currently undergoing a post-mortem to find out the cause of death.

John's agent has verified the tragic news, stating: 'Sadly, I can confirm the tragic death of John Michie's daughter Louella at Bestival, John and his wife Carol ask that the privacy of their family be respected at this traumatic time.'

A 28 year old man is currently being held and questioned on suspicion of murder, but John himself has publicly contested the accusation, telling The Sun: 'This was not a murder.'

'We've lost our angel. It's not murder – they were friends. It was just a tragic mistake, a tragic accident.'

'She touched so many lives. She was so very positive, so bright, so out there. She had such energy. The tributes to her have been incredible.'

Just days before her body was found, John took to Instagram to share what would be his last photo of his daughter, sewing her fancy dress costume ahead of the famous festival.

Police are working closely with Bestival organisers, who said in a statement they were 'devastated to hear about this tragic news.'

'We continue to support the police in their ongoing investigation and our thoughts and prayers are with all the woman's family and friends.'

Tributes and condolences have poured in for the family, and John's colleague Chizzy Akudolu and fellow soap star Stephanie Davis have taken to social media to share in their heartbreak.

'A good mate just lost his daughter,' tweeted Chizzy, who is currently starring on this year's series of Strictly Come Dancing. 'I can't imagine what he and his family are going through. Life man. Tell someone you love them. Do it now.'

Stephanie, meanwhile, wrote: 'Words cannot describe the pain your family must be in @theJohnMichie saying a prayer. No words. This should never have happened. Devastating.'
