Annabel Karmel
Annabel Karmel MBE is a chef and author of over 40 cookbooks based on nutrition, and cooking for babies, children and families. With her career spanning over 25 years she has pioneered the way families feed their babies and children all the world over.
Although before finding her passion for cooking and healthy eating she was actually a very talented musician and her first job was a harpist at the Savoy - talk about multi-talented!
Her love of cooking developed while spending time in Holland where her mother would send her recipes to keep her occupied. This quickly became an adored hobby and way to relax. She turned to children and family nutrition with her first cookbook ‘The complete Baby and Toddler Meal Planner’ in 1991 as a legacy to her first child Natasha who sadly passed away when she was just 3 months old from a viral infection.
In 2006 Annabel was awarded an MBE for her outstanding work in the field of child nutrition, and she has since become recognised as one of the UK’s leading female entrepreneurs.
She regularly writes for national newspapers and does radio and TV appearances to promote a nutritious and healthy lifestyle. A delicious favourite recipe of hers is her Chicken and apple balls recipe. They make perfect finger food so a perfect snack for young children. Annabel also likes to keep things fun in the kitchen with themed bakes for kids - her Halloween brain cupcakes are a real hit!
