Tannice Hemming
Tannice Hemming has worked alongside her local NHS in Kent and Medway since she became a parent and is now a mum of three. As a Maternity Voices Partnership Chair, she bridged the gap between service users (birthing women and people, plus their families) and clinicians, to co-produce improvements in Maternity care. She has also worked as a breastfeeding peer supporter. After founding the Keep Kent Breastfeeding campaign, she regularly appears on KMTV, giving her views and advice on subjects as varied as vaccinations, infant feeding and current affairs affecting families. Tannice has also featured on BBC Radio Kent with Dominic King, Lembit Öpik and Julia George, as well as BBC TV’s Inside Out show with Dr Ranj, talking about breastfeeding.
Two of her proudest achievements include Co-authoring Health Education England’s E-learning on Trauma Informed Care and the Kent and Medway Bump, Birth and Beyond maternity website. Tannice has extensive experience in varied maternal health improvement projects. She has collaborated with Public Health England (now the UK Health Security Agency), NHS England and Health Education England. A current member of several maternity steering groups and panels, projects Tannice has collaborated on include several focusing on maternal mental health, maternal weight and chronic illness. Tannice has also consulted on varied projects making improvements in care for families from ethnically diverse backgrounds and people with diverse family formations (LGBTQ+).
After beginning her career as a B2B copywriter, Tannice turned her attention to healthcare after poor experiences with her first two births. With significant personal knowledge of pregnancy and birthing circumstances, Tannice has experienced caesarean, induction and home water birth. Expecting twins in Autumn 2022, she’s looking forward to completing her family.
When she’s not busy writing or looking after her little ones, Tannice enjoys baking peach loaf and refining her toad in the hole recipe. She’s also a dog lover and adores her Pomeranian Cross, Massimo. Tannice joined GoodToKnow to help inform and empower families. Her focus on evidence-based advice, background in science and lived experience is what drives her dedication to helping parents make the best choices, that truly work for them.
