
Lorraine Pascale
Lorraine Pascale is best known as a a British television chef, who has sold almost one million cookery books in the UK alone.
However, she was first a top model after being scouted at the age of 16. Based in New York at the time, Lorraine achieved international recognition when she appeared on the cover of American Elle, being the first British black woman to do so. She later appeared in Sports Illustrated and has also featured in music videos.
Her passion for food was always there and in 2005, Lorraine’s journey into the food industry began when she graduated from her course at the prestigious Leith’s School of Food and Wine. After a series of stints in multiple London restaurants, Lorraine Pascale established herself formally as a specialist cake maker, with a contract with Selfridges. In 2008 and 2010 alone, she supplied the London store with over 1000 Christmas cakes.
In 2012, Lorraine Pascale also graduated from the now-called University of West London with a first class degree in Culinary Arts. While in her last year at university, Lorraine opened a bakery in Covent Garden selling cakes, cupcakes and tray bakes.
Seven of her multi-award winning books are based around baking. With classic recipes like Malteser’s cheesecake and “big fat carrot cake”, Lorraine Pascale has long-since won the title of the nation’s baker.
As well as regular appearances on Saturday Kitchen and BBC Breakfast, you’ll find her speaking openly on panel shows like Loose Women and The One Show. In America, Lorraine judges hit TV shows like Holiday Baking Championships and Spring Baking Championship.
Lorraine has also ventured into food journalism, offering her insights into the industry as a contributing editor at Vogue as well as featuring in publications such as the Guardian, The Sunday Times and Stylist magazine.
Lorraine Pascale has a daughter, Ella Balinska who appeared in the 2019 remake of Charlie’s Angels.
