Eamonn Holmes celebrates the engagement of his eldest son Declan

ITV presenter and part-time This Morning host Eamonn Holmes has got a lovely reason to celebrate this morning, after revealing that his eldest son is engaged.

The 57-year-old star shared the happy news of his son Declan's recent engagement with his Twitter followers, posting a picture of the newly engaged couple, along with a caption gushing that the news had created 'much happiness in both our families.' Fans rushed to congratulate Eamonn and his son on the lovely announcement.

'Congratulations!! Lovely couple. It's great to have such good news,' said one of Eamonn's followers on Twitter, with another adding: 'That's brilliant news, Eamonn! You are such a loving dad and must be so proud. Congratulations to the happy couple.'

While most people were focused on congratulating the happy couple, some were already thinking ahead to what may be more happy news for Eamonn in the future – the day he finds out he is going to be a grandpa. 'Congratulations Eamonn - just wait for the Grandkids....I've 3’ responded one of his Twitter followers to the news, with another writing, ‘Grandad Eamonn has a good ring to it.’

'Congratulations!!! You might become a grandad soon then!' wrote another user called Kelly. However Eamonn's son was then quick to intervene and respond to the speculation on Twitter, suggesting that it's a bit too soon for the couple to be talking children.

'Now now Kelly,' Declan quipped in response along with two laughing emojis.

Father-of-four Eamonn has three children from his first marriage, and one son, Jack, with his current wife and on-screen presenting partner, Ruth Langsford. Eamonn's son Declan is his oldest child from his previous marriage to ex-wife Gabrielle Holmes. Eamonn is also father to daughter Rebecca who turned 26 this year, and another son Niall who is 23.
