‘It broke me’: Anne Hathaway opens up about struggle to conceive
Earlier this week, Anna Hathaway took to Instagram to announce that she is pregnant with her second child.
Flashing her baby bump for a mirror selfie, the 36-year-old Hollywood actress admitted that she had struggled with conceiving, captioning the heart warming post: ‘It’s not for a movie... #2
‘All kidding aside, for everyone going through infertility and conception hell, please know it was not a straight line to either of my pregnancies. Sending you extra love.’
Now, the Oscar-winning movie star has spoken out about feeling ‘tormented’ by the thought of other pregnant women.
Speaking to The Daily Mail, she confessed: ‘Each time I was trying to get pregnant and it wasn’t going my way, someone else would manage to conceive. I knew intellectually that it didn’t happen just to torment me, but, to be honest, it felt a little bit like it did.'
Anne, who is already mum to a three-year-old son with husband Adam Shulman, added that she was ’embarrassed’ about feeling jealous of pregnant women because nobody ever talked about it.

She admitted that it was soothing being able to talk about her ‘pain’ with other women.
She added: ‘When I said to them “This has happened to me, it broke my heart, it broke me,” so many of them said “It happened to me, too” and that was the thing that allowed me to come through it, to feel my pain without having anyone rush in to define it or cure it.’
The Princess Diaries star also explained how she would find it hurtful when people would ask when she was going to get pregnant.
She said: ‘What I hated was when people would say, “What’s taking you so long?”'
