She accompanied the caption with an image of her present-adorned Christmas tree alongside a board reading: ‘Our greatest gift is due to be unwrapped May 2019’.

Fans rushed to congratulate the retired athlete, who suffered a devastating injury during her time on The Jump in 2016, when she crashed into a barrier after one of her jumps.

‘Wow how exciting and truly beautiful news,’ wrote one follower, ‘you are about to embark on the biggest journey of your life similar to gymnastics – full of ups and downs , highs and lows however it's the most beautiful feeling you will ever experience – congratulations xx’

‘Wooooow CONGRATULATIONS to such a beautiful couple I am so so excited for you’, wrote another social media user and another fan commented: ‘Congratulations xxx a new gymnast will be born with amazing qualities’.

Some even offered ideas for baby names (opens in new tab), writing: ‘Congratulations x if you are lucky the newbie will be 19th May and you can name him Marc for a boy or Marcie or Marcella for a girl’ and ‘If it’s a boy then called him BAXTER!!!!

This will be the first baby for the newlywed couple, who tied the knot back in June.

After dating for two years, the 33-year-old and her new husband got engaged in Rio in 2016 when Andy popped the question while Beth was working as a BBC commentator for the Rio Olympics.

‘I was totally shocked!’ she told HELLO! (opens in new tab) magazine. ‘I knew he was the one for me, but I had absolutely no inkling of what he was planning to do, or that he’d been brought a diamond ring with him to Rio. It was a moment I will never forget. I am so excited about the future’.
