Daisy Lowe reveals ‘heartbreaking’ abortion as she ‘wasn’t ready to be a mum’

Daisy Lowe has revealed that she once had an abortion.

The fashion model opened up about the difficult time to Spice Girls singer Mel B while appearing on her dating podcast The Truth Flirts, admitting that she had a secret abortion as she didn’t feel ready in herself to have a child.

“I wasn’t ready to be a mum,” said Daisy, revealing that her then boyfriend had actually wanted the pair to keep the baby.

“It was heartbreaking,” she continued. “But I’m so grateful I didn’t have that baby. I would have sacrificed a lot and I wouldn’t have been the best mum at the time.”

Daisy expanded on the subject when asked by presenter Mel, whose real name is Melanie Brown, whether she would consider getting into a relationship with someone who has conflicting opinions on abortion.

“I wouldn’t be able to date someone who had conflicting ideas on abortion, no,” she explained.

“Because it’s every woman’s right to do whatever they do. Ultimately there are a lot of very unwanted, unwell kids in the world who need a whole lot of love.

“The planet is overpopulated enough,” continued Daisy, “so why should we bring unwanted kids into the world.

“I think it’s important. It’s a heartbreaking decision to make.

“I’m really grateful that I had the choice growing up.”

“There are secret squirrels who have views on abortion,” she continued.

“The only time when it has come up in my relationship was when I did get pregnant and I did need to make the choice and I chose to have one.”

Speaking about how her then-boyfriend reacted at the time when she was going through the ordeal, Daisy continued, “He was supportive, but I had to go to the clinic and it was heartbreaking.

“He called me when I was having the scan and there was a healthy heartbeat, he said, ‘you’ve got to keep it, we’ve got to keep it’.

“I was like, ‘Are you f****** kidding me?’ I was like ‘I can’t’.”

The model did not reveal how old she was when she experienced the unwanted pregnancy or who the father of her unborn child was.

However, she is currently dating singer Jack Peñate, who is best known for his indie rock style of music.
