50-year-old star Michael Sheen has welcomed a baby girl with girlfriend Anna Lundberg, 25, as confirmed by his 80-year-old father Meyrick.
Speaking to MailOnline, Michael’s father said: ‘We are thrilled to bits, over the moon.’. He also added that he had seen photos of the newborn, and that he and his wife had celebrated by ‘raising a glass’.
Michael first announced Anna’s pregnancy on Twitter, writing: ‘Very happy to let everyone know that my partner Anna and I are expecting a little angel of our own. (Just to be clear – we’re having a baby!) #nottheantichrist 🇸🇪🧝🏻♀👶😇🏴’
The newborn, whose name is still publicly unknown, is Michael’s second child. He shares his 20-year-old daughter with ex-wife Kate Beckinsale, who he separated from in 2003.
Michael later thanked fans for the outpouring of well wishes following news of the pregnancy, joking: ‘To my new Good Omens online family – THANK YOU! Yes we’ll try not to get mine & David’s mixed up. No we won’t call the baby Adam. Yes hopefully healthy & hoofless! ❤’
In 2010, Michael Sheen previously opened up about parenting, describing it as ‘the most challenging thing you do’.
Speaking to The Guardian at the time, he added: ‘That’s why we’re here. It’s at the heart of what it is to be a human being. It’s the ultimate experience because it questions everything about who you are. But it’s difficult.
‘My job takes me away from my daughter, Lily a lot, so when I am with her the time is really important.’
The 50-year-old started dating Anna around summer 2018, and defended his relationship status on Twitter.
He wrote: ‘Wouldn’t normally respond to this kind of thing but for the sake of people I love and who have more important things to focus on right now – I was single from the beginning of last summer until I met my partner Anna who is now going to have our baby. Just for the record. Thanks.’
Neither Michael nor Anna has shared a photo of the newborn yet, but we do know their baby girl has arrived into the world. Congratulations to them both!
