Ferne McCann opens up about 'traumatic' year and becoming a single mum

'My life was turned upside down'

Ferne McCann has opened up about 'traumatic' year and becoming a single mum as she celebrated her first Mother's Day with baby Sunday.

The former TOWIE star welcomed her first child last year, and now she's opened up about how she's adapted to parenthood after finding out she was going to become a mum.

In an interview with The Sun, the mum-of-one said the past year has been 'traumatic', especially because she had to adapt to the idea of becoming a parent on her own.

'The last year has been so traumatic, but there has to come a time when you let the anger go and move forwards.

'I couldn't accept that I was suddenly in a position that I was going to have to do this on my own.'

Ferne revealed that she was pregnant shortly after her partner at the time, Arthur Collins, was arrested over an acid attack at a nightclub in London. They subsequently split and he has since been convicted.

The 27-year-old also spoke about her pregnancy, which she says even though it was an 'incredible thing', she felt stressed most of the time because of the circumstances.

'While it was the most incredible thing, I was stressed and upset a lot of the time.

'Sunday was my saving grace, because she gave me a reason to look after myself.'

Ferne, who also confirmed she's currently dating someone, added that Sunday has changed her life for the better.

'Since Sunday came along, everything in my life has changed for the better. I can't wait to spend my first Mother's Day with her. 'It's me and Sunday against the world. I can't imagine someone else putting her to bed, or doing the night feeds', she said.

She wrote: 'My first Mother’s Day with my Munchkinette 🖤 Sunday baby girl thankyou for bringing so much joy & happiness to my life. You are my magic girl and I love you.'
