Giovanna Fletcher has been praised by fans for opening up about her postpartum body insecurities on social media, saying she won’t let her ‘wobbles’ and ‘cellulite’ stop her playing with her children.
Author and wife of Mcfly star Tom, Giovanna is known for her openness and honest posts on the reality of being a mum. Now, the 32-year-old mum of two has shared a picture of herself in a swimming costume to encourage other mums to love their bodies too.
Taking to social media site Instagram, Giovanna posted a picture showing herself wearing a black one piece on the beach, playing in the sea with her two little ones.
Referring to how much she loves to play with her kids, the vlogging star explained how enthusiastic she is when it comes to entertaining them on holiday.
‘I’m sure this is meant to be the other way around and they’re meant to be trying to get me into the sea or splashing me while I look on with bemusement. 🙈’
Giovanna went on to explain that although it’s hard to watch your body change after you have children, she has always had body worries and wouldn’t let them stop her having fun with her children.
‘At times it does bother me how much my body has changed, but I know I don’t ever want it to stop me having fun with the boys.
‘They aren’t going to look back and think ‘Gosh, Mum had terrible cellulite, stretch marks and wobbled a lot’, but they would notice if I sat out of games and didn’t make the most of my time with them.’
The mum continued to reflect on how her insecurities are down to how she feels inside before saying thank you to her body for giving her ‘the two most important things in my life’.
‘My body isn’t what it used to be, but even when I was a size 8 I was unhappy with how I looked. It’s not a size thing. It’s not a weight thing. It’s an inner feeling thing.
‘My body gave me the two most important things in my life. So thank you to you in all your wobbles, lumps and bumps. To me, you are perfectly imperfect. Xx ❤️ #nofilter #beachbody #bodypositive #loveyourbabyloveyourbody #mum #love #myheart #motherhood’
Fans felt empowered by Giovanna’s post, with many thanking her for her honest attitude.
One social media user wrote, ‘G I think you’re amazing! So real, honest and in the moment! I think we could all do with chucking our phones away, and being more present for our babies!! Sod the diet, sod the social media – ENJOY LIFE!!’
Another opened up about her own experiences, ‘I had my twins 2 years ago and i’m 3 sizes bigger than I was at first I felt massive pressure to get back into a size 10 now I embrace my size and think fuck it…. i’ll do it in my own time but like you still put on my shorts or swimming costume with my kids and go for it. Happy kids… happy mummy! Thank you 💞’
