Helen Glover and Steve Backshall have welcomed their first child together after announcing they were expecting back in March.
The couple were initially expecting twins but Helen sadly miscarried one child early in the pregnancy and announced the news in April.
Helen has been documenting her pregnancy on social media with regular baby bump pictures posted on her Instagram profile.
Despite being heavily pregnant she has been able to maintain her exercise and was in a kayak just five days ago!
The couple announced the arrival of their baby boy with a series of social media posts but have not yet revealed their chosen baby name. Gold medalist Helen posted a black and white picture of her son's tiny little foot next to Steve's thumb and gushed that she was so excited to finally meet him.
Captioning the picture Helen said: 'Steve and I will are excited to welcome Baby Boy Backshall to the world 🌎 we promise to make it a great one for you little man ❤ @backshall.steve . . . . . . . #baby #newborn #babyboy #cute #feet #imamummy #notgrownupenough #eeek #theadventurebegins'.
Posting the same image to his own Instagram page Steve wrote: 'The biggest adventure begins @helenglovergb'.
Steve, a wildlife TV presenter perhaps best known among kids as the presenter of Deadly 60, has been in and out of the UK throughout Helen's pregnancy filming different expeditions and voyages.
Luckily he made it back in time for his biggest and perhaps most challenging adventure yet!
The couple have been inundated with well-wishes from friends and fans. One person wrote: 'Oh wow! Congratulations to you both. Totally different kind of adventure, this one! It's going to be amazing x'.
Another said: 'So incredibly thrilled for you both! Welcome to the world little one, you're going to be surrounded by endless love and wonderful adventures. Sending loads of love, congrats and gentle hugs to the three of you ❤ Xx'.
A third added: 'Oh my, many, many congratulations to you both. Wishing you all the very best. He’s going to have one heck of a life 🌸👼🏼 xx'.
