Michael Phelps has announced on social media that his wife Nicole is pregnant with their second child.
He’s won an impressive total of 23 Olympic gold medal, but now Michael Phelps seems focused on growing his family.
The dad-of-one, who welcomed his first son with wife Nicole in May 2016, took to Instagram to announce his happy news to the world with an adorable snap of his little family.
‘Number 2 on the way!!!! So excited!! Wonder if it’s a boy or a girl??’, he captioned the picture of Nicole holding their son Boomer, both sporting very big smiles on their faces.
Fans rushed to congratulate the couple on their lovely news, commenting on the cute photo to send their well-wishes.
One fan wrote: ‘Massive congratulations to you both and Boomer is going to make a fab big brother 🎉💗 xxx’
A second wrote: ‘Awwwwwww I’m soooooo happppppyyyyyy for you 😭😭😭😭 congratulations!!!!’, while another commented ‘Oh dear!!! She looks so happy 😍😍😍😍 congrats!’
The couple’s one-year-old son, who has his own Instagram account, also took to social media to share his excitement about becoming a big brother.
Captioning a picture of little Boomer looking thrilled, they wrote: ‘So excited to see what mama is having!! Do I get to have a brother or a sister?!?’
The Olympic swimmer had previously mentioned that he and his wife had plans to grow their family, especially now he’s retired from the sport.
‘Nicole has recently brought up that she would like a girl!,’ he told PEOPLE earlier this year.
‘We definitely want more kids, it just depends on when. I’m sure I’m getting pressure.’
‘We are so fortunate to have a healthy and happy baby and hopefully more coming soon, but we don’t know when.
‘We’re going through life everyday happy and blessed with what we have. But I hope to have more kids in the future.’
The couple announced they were expecting their first child in November 2015, with another adorable snap on Instagram, where they posed in front of a swimming pool and Nicole is seen holding a mini pair of Speedo swimming trunks.
After welcoming Boomer in May 2016, the pair tied the knot not once, but twice – first in a small ceremony in June, and then again in October in a larger event in Mexico.
