Tom Daley's husband Dustin Lance Black has been praised by fans after responding to online trolls who made cruel remarks about the duo's baby news.

The nasty comments started last week when the Olympic diver and the screenwriter revealed they were having a baby by sharing snaps of a scan on social media.

Responding to the criticism, 43-year-old Dustin wrote: 'My reaction to others' hate, bigotry & misinformation will not include anger or hate. For me, the path forward is lit with curiosity, listening, correcting the record when possible, and as best I can, leading with an example of strength & love.

'And here's a little Hawaiian honeymoon flashback.'

The 43-year-old American accompanied his words with a shot of the couple making a heart shape with their arms while swimming in the sea.

Tom, 23, and Dustin both wear snorkelling gear in the powerful image.

Fans of the couple were quick to praise Dustin's reaction to the negativity on social media, gushing about a great example they are to others.

'You both guys have become great examples for many generations,' gushed one of his 284,000 followers.

'Excellent way of reacting and you continue to be a great example: strength and love! Congratulations and best wishes guys, all the way from Mexico!'

Another added: 'You guys love each other and I'm sure your kid will have the best dads and will grow up surrounded by love ❤️ you deserve all the best @dlanceblack & @tomdaley Congratulations!'

Tom and Dustin's revelation that they're going to father a child together comes less than a year after they tied the knot.

Bovey Castle in Devon was the location of their wedding, which was attended by loved-ones from the UK and US.

The first met in 2013 and announced their plans to marry with a post in the Births, Marriages And Deaths section of The Times.
