  • Women have been sharing photos of themselves in the clothes they want to wear to help boost body positivity.

The hashtag #WeWearWhatWeWant, which has since gone viral on Twitter, was created to show that women should be able to wear the clothes they want – without being judged for it.

The campaign was launched by 23-year-old Simone Mariposa. The plus-size model and blogger, from Los Angeles, California, created the hashtag after a follower suggested she make a hashtag to celebrate plus-size fashion choices.

She told Buzzfeed News that she created the campaign after seeing a story about a plus-sized girl who was shamed for what she was wearing and made to feel uncomfortable.

Simone said she’s previously been judged for her choice of clothing and her ‘body image suffered greatly from it’.

‘I stopped wearing my legs and arms out, I stayed away from clothes that accentuated my belly fat, and I was extremely self conscious [in] public’, she said.

‘However, after a while, I stopped letting society dictate my wardrobe, and starting wearing things that I always dreamed of wearing that made me feel beautiful.’

Now, women are praising Simone’s Twitter post and sharing their own photos, wearing the clothes they want to. Many also talked about their own body issues and insecurities, while sharing images to show that everyone should love their bodies – and we think they all look amazing!

One tweet read: ‘I’ve been cyberbullied for my extra love handles. Deleted these pics because of that, but no more!’

Another said: ‘I’m really insecure and rarely post body pics, but this hashtag has really got me loving myself’

‘I’m fat and super cute and nothing is ever going to stop me from wearing whatever the heck I want!#wewearwhatwewant’

‘@SimoneMariposa I wear figure forming outfits all the time. I wish more girls would do the Same. 💖#WeWearWhatWeWant’

We think everyone should be able to wear what they want without being ridiculed – and these women look great!
