  • Alex Jones has announced that she has welcomed her second child.

The One Show presenter, who revealed her pregnancy back in December, took to her social media to share the exciting news with her followers that she had given birth.

Alongside a caption that revealed all the details of her little one, the mum-of-two uploaded a sweet photo to her Instagram page that showed her holding the hands of her newborn son.

‘And then there were 4!!!’ she wrote.

‘Little kit Thomson arrived safely and very speedily last Monday at 2.21am weighing a healthy 7lbs 3.

‘Teddy, Charlie and I are absolutely besotted by baby brother and are enjoying this special time as we get used to being a foursome and generally breathing in that lovely newborn smell!!!

Fans and friends rushed to congratulate the 42-year-old, joined by a host of well known faces who sent their well-wishes too.

TV host Dermot O’Leary commented ‘Huge congrats Al x’ followed by Channel 4 presenter Zoe Hardman who wrote ‘Yay!! A Kit!! Such a good name – well done you beauty, amazing news xxx’ and BBC presenter Anita Rani who added ‘Congratulations!!’.

Singer and musician Myleene Klass, who is currently expecting her third child, also added ‘Ahhhhhhhhh! Congratulations Mama xxx’

Alex, who recently opened up about her secret miscarriage, even phoned in to yesterday’s episode of The One Show to share the exciting news with her show’s viewers.

‘We are now a family of four,’ she exclaimed down the phone line to fellow presenters Matt Baker and Angela Scanlon.

‘He’s really good,’ she continued. ‘He was born last Monday morning so we’ve had a lovely week, just the four of us getting used to being a family of four – and introducing him to Teddy which has been a dream!’

‘I was really worried about that,’ she continued, ‘but Teddy has taken like a duck to water being a big brother. He’s been fantastic, really gentle with him. and he says ‘love you baby’.

‘He thinks we’re going to call the baby Thomas after Thomas the tank engine,’ added the mum-of-two, ‘so breaking the news that we’re not actually going to call him Thomas is going to be quite tricky!’

Congratulations to the whole family on their new arrival!
