British singer Jessie J has revealed that she was told four years ago that she’d never be able to have children and dedicates song to other women with fertility struggles.

Jessie J candidly opened up about her fertility issues for the first time during a live performance at the Royal Albert Hall earlier this week.

Standing on stage, 30-year-old Jessie revealed that she was told the news four years ago but that she’s decided to share her experience now to give strength to other women.

She said: ‘I don’t tell you guys for sympathy because I’m one of millions of women and men that have gone through this and will go through this.

‘It can’t be something that defines us but I wanted to write this song for myself in my moment of pain and sadness but also to give myself joy, to give other people something that they can listen to in that moment when it gets really hard.’

Jessie added: ‘So if you’ve ever experienced anything with this or have seen somebody else go through it or have lost a child, then please know you’re not alone in your pain and I’m thinking of you when I sing this song.’

She then went on to sing Four Letter Word from her new album R.O.S.E. The song includes lyrics like: ‘B-A-B-Y. This just changed my life. Can’t believe I, can’t believe I, can’t believe I don’t have time’ and ‘God knows I’m waiting to be a mother’.

Jessie has said that despite not being able to have her own children, she was determined to become a mother through other means but didn’t go into detail.

The news was probably a shock for many of Jessie’s fans as she has previously opened up about how much she’d love to have children and start a family.

In an old interview with Marie Claire the Do It Like A Dude singer gushed: ‘When I turned 25, something changed in me. I see children in my future 100 per cent. Very soon. I started thinking I want my kids to look back and say, “Wasn’t Mummy amazing?” I’ve really started thinking about what I’m leaving for them.’
