Matthew Wright welcomes first child with wife Amelia after eight-year IVF struggle
Matthew Wright and his wife Amelia have welcomed their first child.
The TV presenter and radio host confirmed the news to HELLO! that he and his wife had welcomed a baby girl – and he even revealed the adorable name.
Born just after 6pm on Friday 25th January, the newborn weighed five and a half pounds and was named Cassady Frances Wright.
Fans and acquaintances took to social media to congratulate the pair, with talkRADIO, where the new dad hosts a weekday afternoon show, tweeting: ‘Huge congratulations to talkRADIO’s Matthew Wright and wife Amelia on the birth of their first child Cassady Frances Wright after an eight-year struggle with IVF.
‘Cassady weighed in at five and a half pounds and all three are doing well.’
The 53-year-old, who sparked controversy last month by revealing the reason why he would spend Christmas away from his pregnant wife, took to Twitter himself to express his joy at the new arrival, writing: ‘I can’t believe this is happening’.
He later updated his followers as to the condition of his new daughter and wife of eight years, tweeting: ‘Just checking in to say all is well, Cassady and @mrsameliawright are doing well but will be in hospital for a few days yet.

‘We cannot thank you enough for all the love and your countless supportive messages. So far so good.. will reply to y’all in time xx’
This is the first child for the couple, who announced that they were expecting back in September, after they endured an eight-year struggle with IVF.
‘It was our final roll of the dice,’ the dad-of-one told HELLO! back in September. ‘We’ve waited a long time for this moment. Every day we keep pinching ourselves because we can hardly believe it’s finally happening.’
The former I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here contestant and his record executive wife had been storing their last embryo, which was small and unlikely to lead to pregnancy, for six years.
But after considering donating the embryo to medical science, 42-year-old Amelia decided to give it one last shot.
‘I couldn’t bring myself to give it up,’ she said. ‘Without expectation, I wanted one last shot. If it didn’t work, we’d stop and get on with our lives.’
Big congratulations to Matthew and Amelia!
