Coronation’s Street Sam Aston and Briony Gardner's pet dog died just one day after they tied the knot.
The Coronation Street soap star, who plays Chesney Brown, and his partner Briony were happily wed (opens in new tab) at Stock Farm in Cheshire on Sunday.
But, just one day later, the pair revealed the shocking news that their family pet Buddy had died.
Sharing a photograph of the couple’s three beloved dogs on Instagram stories, Briony captioned the photo: ‘Today we lost another member of our herd. Sweet dreams Buddy.
‘Now you can lick every cushion in the sky.
‘Sam I are so lucky to have have other through good times and bad thank you for the love.’
The sad news comes just two weeks after her husband shared the news his pet labrador, Bella, had also died.
Sam posted a photo (opens in new tab) of his beloved black labrador on Instagram with the caption: “Earlier today, I said goodbye to my beautiful black lab. It’s very true when they say a dog is a mans best friend. Sleep well Bella.....You were and will always be my girl 🖤.”
The sad news of Buddy’s death comes just one day after the love-birds wedding celebrations.
On Saturday, yoga-teacher Briony shared a picture of the couple's wooden ring box, which was engraved with the couple’s names and the date of their big day.
In June 2017, Sam popped the question to his long-term girlfriend while on stage at his golf clubs annual charity dinner party.
She captioned the photo (opens in new tab) which read: ‘After sharing over 5 years together, 4 Al, Andy and Sam golf days, and 3 doggies, 2 hearts have now become 1 as Sam and I are...ENGAGED!! (How is it possible I can even say that out loud?!)
‘Sam got down on one knee last night at his annual golf do and proposed in front of 250 people and my heart could burst with happiness!! (When did I get so lucky?!).’
