TV star Stacey Solomon has revealed she almost left her eldest child behind in the supermarket soon after he was born.

The Loose Women panellist recalls the incident in her new book, Happily Imperfect: Living Life Your Own Way, which came out last week.

‘I’ve had some spectacular parenting fails in my time!’ she writes. ‘Not long after Zach was born I was walking around a store, putting stuff in my basket. He was in his buggy and I’d placed the basket on top.

'At some point I’d lifted the basket to carry it on my arm and drifted off. About 10 minutes later I was queuing at the till when I suddenly felt sure I’d had another basket or something. That “something” of course was Zach! I don’t think I’ve ever moved as fast as I did through that store.’

Zach, now 10, is Stacey’s eldest son. She also shares a six-year-old son called Leigh with former partner Aaron Barham.

Stacey is now pregnant with her third child, her first with boyfriend Joe Swash. The soon-to-be mum-of-three recently revealed that she doesn’t plan to take maternity leave when her new arrival appears.

In an even more ‘spectacular parenting fail’ as Stacey would put it, this weekend a plane was forced to turn back because one of the passengers realised she had left her child at the airport.

A video of the pilot discussing the issue with Air Traffic Control has gone viral.

‘May God be with us. Can we come back or what?’ the pilot asks. ‘This flight is requesting to come back.

'A passenger forgot her baby in the waiting area, the poor thing,’ the controller tells a colleague. ‘OK, head back to the gate. This is a totally new one for us!’ he then tells the pilot.

The Saudi Arabian Airlines flight was heading from Jeddah to Kuala Lumpur.

The pilot radioed Air Traffic Control when the young mother alerted the plane’s cabin crew that she had left her child in the departure lounge.
