Thanks to Deliveroo, we’ve been able to order from our favourite restaurants without leaving the house. Now, they’re adding supermarket Sainsbury’s to their menu.

Starting from next week, shoppers will be able to order Sainsbury’s food directly from Deliveroo. Initially, it’ll be a two-month trial, but might be extended if there’s enough demand for the new service.

Unfortunately this trial will only be available in Cambridge, Selly Oak, West Hove, Pimlico and Hornsey. But there’s a chance it’ll be available nationwide if shoppers in these areas snap it up.

If you do live in these areas, you’ll be able to order via Deliveroo from 22nd July. Items available through the app include fresh baked sourdough pizzas, sweet and savoury snacks, dips and soft drinks.

And if you fancy something healthier, you’ll even be able to order salads to your door - so there are options for everyone via Sainsbury’s Deliveroo menu.

This collaboration comes after Asda announced they’d be selling their pizzas via Just Eat’s app, for those who want a cheaper takeaway option. Even Greggs have started offering their much-loved sausage rolls and bakes via the takeaway app.

Speaking about the new service, Sainsbury’s Chief Digital Officer, Clodagh Moriarty said: ‘With more and more shoppers looking for convenient and affordable meals delivered to their doors, our trial with Deliveroo brings our great value hot food direct to customers’ homes.

‘We’re excited to see what our customers think before deciding if, how and where we go next with the offer’ He added.

It will be interesting to see if Sainsbury’s decide to roll this out nationwide, or even keep it as a permanent offering. It would save us having to venture out, buy a pizza and cook it ourselves. Let's face it - who doesn't love convenience?
