Granola is a popular breakfast food that can be eaten as a cereal or as a topping to fruit and yoghurt. Made by combining rolled porridge oats, chopped nuts, dried fruit, sun flower oil and honey and then gently baked until golden and crisp. All you need to do is stir the mixture a few time while baking. The addition of banana chips in this recipe adds a delicious sweet and crunchy element with the chewy raisins. Granola is a high in fibre breakfast the can provide you with slow release energy to keep you going until lunch time
Ingredients
- 300g rolled porridge oats
- 100g banana chips, slightly crushed
- 50g flaked almonds
- 4tbsp sunflower oil
- 150g runny honey
- 75g raisins

Method
- Pre-heat oven to 190°C/375°F/Fan 170°C/Gas Mark 5. In a large bowl combine the oats, banana chips, flaked almonds, sunflower oil and honey. Spread evenly over two shallow baking trays.
- Bake for 10 minutes before stirring the mixture well to break up any clumps and scatter over the raisins. Bake for a further 10 minutes, stirring halfway through, until golden. Remove from the oven and set aside to cool. Store in an airtight container and serve with yoghurt and fruit.
Top Tip for making Homemade banana chip granola
Add as many dried fruits and nuts as you like to the granola just increase the oats & sunflower oil & honey up to keep the consistency the same
