Olympic athlete Perri Shakes-Drayton has announced her engagement to boyfriend Mike Edwards, the CEO of a cigar company, ahead of her stint on Dancing On Ice.
Perri Shakes-Drayton, 29, is known for her athleticism, competing as part of Team GB in the Olympic games as a track and field runner.
Now she's joined Dancing on Ice as a celebrity contestant for 2018 and ahead of her debut, she announced her engagement to long-term boyfriend Mike Edwards.
Taking to Instagram, Perri’s boyfriend Mike took to Instagram shared the happy news with a series of photos of Perri, along with several of him actually proposing to her, while she showed off her sparkly diamond ring.
Mike captioned the images: 'When the woman of your dreams is actually your Feyoncé in real life!!! #shesaidyes @royaloperahouse’
Posing a series of the same photos, Perri also announced the exciting news on her own Instagram.
She said: 'So not last night but the night before....this happened! To my surprise I was taken back to where me and Mike had our first date. I was smiling from ear to ear as it brought back all the memories when I was asked by him to be accompanied to the Royal opera house(not the usual first date). Fantastic idea babe proper romantic @aireyys he is.
'When the night gets even better. You have no idea but given instructions just to wear something you've never worn before. I was told to take a seat at the dining table. I was taking in the luxurious surroundings and selfie taking while babe used the toilet. Little did I know he returned to then get down on one knee and ask me to marry him. OMG I was in so much shock but my guy done well.'

[/instagram]Despite Perri's huge success as an athlete, with her work meaning she’s often off travelling to competitions around the world, and Mike’s flourishing career as the CEO of a cigar business, it seems the couple’s love is stronger than ever.
Taking to Instagram with a loved-up pic of the pair, Perri captioned: 'Missing someone is a part of loving them, if you’re never apart then you’ll never know how strong your love really is.’
The couple have been dating for quite a while and celebrated their three-year anniversary together around the same weekend they got engaged last year.
