Singer Ellie Goulding has announced her engagement to boyfriend of 18 months Caspar Jopling with an old school entry in the Times.

Ellie Goulding has announced that she is engaged to her boyfriend with an entry in today's  (August 7) Times newspaper.

The engagement announcement read: 'Mr C.W.F. Jopling and Miss E.J. Goulding. The engagement is announced between Caspar, son of The Hon Nicholas Jopling of Yorkshire and Mrs Jayne Warde-Aldam of Yorkshire, and Elena, daughter of Mr Arthur Goulding of Hertfordshire and Mrs Tracey Sumner of West Midlands.'

According to a source that spoke to The Sun's bizarre column, Ellie and Caspar were keen to tell their friends and family first. They also thought that the Times announcement would go unnoticed by many as Ellie's real name is Elena.

The source added: 'She's over the moon and has never felt so happy.'

Ellie and Caspar have been dating for around 18 months and just last month the singer opened up about how happy she was with her art dealer boyfriend.

Speaking to A List, Ellie gushed: 'I am very happy but I do realise you need some darkness to draw on to create the best music. But don’t worry — I’ve got plenty of darkness to draw on. There is enough going on in the world at the moment to get anyone down.'

Ellie and Caspar haven't acknowledged their engagement on social media yet, but people have already started sending their congratulations.

One person tweeted: '@elliegoulding congratulations Ellie! :) THIS IS THE BEST NEWS, I AM SO HAPPY. I wish you and Caspar lots of happiness, love and luck 🎆❤'.

Another person joked: '@elliegoulding I just heard the amazing news that you and caspar got engaged! Congratulations! 💕But I want to hear it from you! This is your special moment, you can tell us whenever you're ready for it! Ps: don't forget my invite for the wedding... 😜'.

A third added: '@elliegoulding Congratulations on your engagement with Caspar! I am so happy for you that you found the love of your life and you’re gonna marry him. I am way too happy for you 💍❤'.
