John Cena and Nikki Bella have announced they have split, just weeks before they were due to get married.
The pair shared the sad news in a statement released by a rep for the couple: 'After much contemplation and six years of being together Nikki Bella and John Cena announced today their decision to separate as a couple.'
The duo did not reveal the reason for their separation, but added: 'While this decision was a difficult one, we continue to have a great deal of love and respect for one another. We ask that you respect our privacy during this time in our lives.'
Fans were quick to comment on the split on social media, with many devastated that the couple are no longer together.
One said: 'Such a shame for you both but sounds like you are both really mature about it. John was a lucky for sure.'
Another added: 'This is such heartbreaking news 😩 so sorry to hear this ❤️'.
John and Nikki, who are both wrestling stars, got engaged in the middle of the ring at WrestleMania 33, in April last year.
Three months ago, the two had an engagement party to celebrate their impending nuptials, after which John tweeted: 'Such a wonderful, meaningful, emotional day yesterday with the woman of my dreams and both of our families.
'I love you Nicole, you've made me realize the importance of togetherness.'
Bella, who also has her own reality TV show with her sister Brie - Total Bellas - replied at the time: 'Aww my Love... It was so magical. Love you too John.'
Recently John spoke about their wedding planning, saying that it was about to 'amp up',
The 40-year-old told E! News: 'It's kind of a special time where there is a little bit of lull and I'm really looking forward to spending some time with Nicole and work on that. Hopefully, in the next few weeks the wedding planning is really going to amp up!'
The WWE star had also previously spoken out about their relationship, admitting that they had to work on it every day.
'Don't ever think that love is easy. Love is beautiful, but we've had to come to the realisation after being together for five years that love is not easy,' he told Us Weekly
'We work every day on us. We have our problems just like everybody else. Some of our problems are very public, some of them aren't. But we work every day on us. Anytime I get upset, I always just realise that I can't live without her and I love her and that's why I cave in on a lot of stuff.'
