Chris Pratt has announced his engagement to girlfriend Katherine Schwarzenegger.
The actor took to his social media to confirm the happy news that he is set to wed partner Katherine.
Alongside an intimate photo of the couple embracing and showing off the bride-to-be’s dazzling engagement ring, the 39-year-old, wrote: ‘Sweet Katherine, so happy you said yes! I’m thrilled to be marrying you. Proud to live boldly in faith with you. Here we go!’
Followers rushed to congratulate the pair, who were first spotted together last summer, writing: ‘Huge congrats guys!!!’ ‘Congratulations to you both, enjoy every moment together’ and ‘Congratulations @prattprattpratt Been hoping and praying for something like this for you. Much joy and peace be upon you and your house!’
Fans of the Marvel actor even jumped to his defence when critics commented on the fact that this will be his second marriage, after he and ex-wife Anna Faris confirmed their separation back in 2017, less than 18 months ago.
‘They changed and so they decided to move on. He is happy and is his life. All that matters,’ wrote one Instagram user, while another commented: ‘it's ok to get married again. He's a man of faith. I'm sure he put his heart and soul into his previous marriage and things just didn't work out. Don't judge something that you don't know everything about.’
The Guardians of the Galaxy star shares six-year-old son Jack with his actress ex-wife, who were married for eight years before they separated.
In a statement on their social media accounts, the A-list pair wrote: ‘We are sad to announce we are legally separating. We tried hard for a long time, and we’re really disappointed.
‘Our son has two parents who love him very much and for his sake we want to keep this situation as private as possible moving forward.’
‘We still love each other and will always cherish our time together. Anna Faris and Chris Pratt.’
This will be the first marriage for Katherine, who is the daughter of actor and politician Arnold Schwarzenegger and broadcast journalist Maria Shriver, the niece of former US president John F. Kennedy.
The 29-year-old is yet to comment on the happy news.
