Claire Danes and husband Hugh Dancy announce birth of their second child

It's a boy!

Claire Dane’s publicist has confirmed that the Homeland actress gave birth to a baby boy on Monday August 27.

Claire and her husband Hugh Dancy, who have been married since 2009, already have a five-year-old son Cyrus Michael Christopher.

Claire has previously admitted her son had mixed emotions about being an older brother.

Speaking on the Today breakfast show in the US last June, the 39-year-old actress said: ‘He's mostly enthusiastic about it.

‘There was a little wobble a couple months ago, where he was saying: 'You're gonna love the baby more than you love me,' and then I was gonna love everybody more than I love him!

‘Anybody who walked through the door, he'd say: 'You love that person more than you love me!' But he's come around, We've moved through that and he keeps kissing my stomach ... It's very sweet, but I'm sure it'll go back and forth ... feelings of excitement, and dread, and resentment.’

The youngster has since changed his mind about becoming a big brother, as Claire told People Magazine that her first-born was referring to the baby as ‘his baby’ – cute!

Claire announced that she was expecting her second child with fellow actor Hugh on Howard Stern’s SiriusXM show back in April.

She said at the time: ‘I'm pregnant. I’m seriously preggo. I’m deep into my second trimester.’

She also revealed that she and her husband had been wanting another child, saying: ‘This was planned. We’ve been wanting another kid for a while, and it happened.’

Unlike during her first pregnancy, Claire has been taking a hiatus from acting commitments after finishing filming the seventh season of Homeland earlier this year.

‘It feels like a huge luxury,’ she told People. ‘When I was pregnant with my first son, I worked until I was in my eighth month, so this feels like a huge gift, to have a change to kick my feet up a little bit.’

Phew, we hope you enjoy your well-earned break Claire!
