Katie Piper on how she'll explain acid attack to daughter Belle

The TV presenter was attacked in 2008

Katie Piper has spoken about how she plans to talk to daughter Belle about the terrifying moment that changed her life.

In a TV appearance on ITV's Lorraine, Katie Piper spoke about how she will explain to her daughter why she looks different to some other mummies.

The presenter suffered an acid attack in March 2008, and has had to have more than 40 operations since then. The last one happened just last November, when she underwent nose surgery to have tubes fitted in.

As her daughter, who turns two this year, reaches the why phase, Katie is getting ready to answer the difficult question of why she looks different. [instagram]

'I'm sure as she starts to put more sentences together maybe she will ask things', she continued, before saying she will handle it as she has with everyone else.

'But that's fine, I'm just going to be the same with her as I am with everybody in my life and it's just part of me and who I am.' After enduring so many procedures as a result of the attack, Katie finally had her dream wedding in November last year, after a year-long engagement to fiancé Richard Sutton.

The beautiful bride described her special day as a small affair, and her wedding gown as 'a dream come true'. [instagram]

[/instagram]'It was amazing and we postponed it so many times because I had all these problems with my throat. So in the end we were able to go through with it', Katie said of her big day. 'It had been quite a difficult year health-wise so it was a nice way to end the year and it was a small thing, close friends and family.'

The recently wed pair welcomed daughter Belle Elizabeth in 2014, and became engaged in December of the same year. The inspiring author has also been thinking of giving Belle a little brother or sister, to give her the same connection she's had with her two siblings: 'I don't know, I mean I think it's a blessing to have the one and I'm sure she would love a sibling – I'm one of three and I know it's so nice to have that relationship.'

However, the mother-of-one also revealed she's considering adopting, because she's finding conceiving naturally difficult the second time around.

A problem with her throat makes it hard for her to eat and therefore gain weight, which is why she's having issues conceiving.

'I got pregnant really easily with Belle, but now I’ve got a problem with my oesophagus', she explained in an interview. 'If I eat anything it gets stuck and I choke, because when acid was thrown over me I swallowed some of it and it burned my throat. I think adopting is the best option.'
