'Your scar DOES NOT define you' Mum of twins shares empowering C-section scar photo

Emily Marson hoped her inspiring picture would encourage other mothers to appreciate their postpartum figures

A mum has been praised for sharing an empowering photo of her C-section scar online.

Emily Marson decided to upload the image as a way of encouraging other women to embrace their bodies following the birth of their children.

'Okay, this is quite a personal post but I am now 4 months postpartum and beginning to embrace what my body has become, I've housed two beautiful babies for 36 weeks and breastfed for 5 weeks,' she began her caption on Instagram.

'My pregnancy wasn't exactly an easy ride these boys wanted to come out early and I was hospitalised a few times because of dehydration and early contractions.' [instagram]

Emily continued by outlining the changes that she experienced while carrying her indentical sons Arthur and Finley, stating that she's proud to have been able to give them 'food, warmth and love'.

She then went on to offer inspiring words to other mums who might be feeling uncomfortable in their own skin.

'With a scar that I will have for the rest of my life is a tiny sacrifice for a lifetime of beautiful memories with my family. Your stretch marks DO NOT define you, your scar DOES NOT define you, your flab DOES NOT define you,' she said.

'You are incredible, you are a mother and you are the light of your babies' eyes. I wanted to share this to show the reality of our bodies and that it's okay not to be perfect because in their eyes you are exactly that.'

We're sure it'll come as no surprise when we reveal that a number of Emily's followers were quick to show their admiration for the mother-of-two.

'Love this post 🙌 Thank you for reminding me that my body did an amazing thing by growing 3 tiny little humans inside my body ❤️ xxxx,' gushed one.

Another added: 'Such an amazing picture - showcasing motherhood and strength!'
