Aldi's bargain pizza oven has been compared to one that costs almost £2,000!

Aldi’s Gardenline Barbecue Pizza Oven is designed to cook perfect 12-inch pizzas in just 10 minutes.

One of the supermarket’s legendary Specialbuys, it’s coming back for a limited time for the second year in a row.

It was a massive hit last summer, and has even been compared with Jamie Oliver’s hugely popular £1,750 outdoor pizza oven.

Twitter went wild over the news. ‘I neeeeeeed,’ one user declared, while shoppers who’d managed to get their hands on one before were quick to recommend it. ‘Best buy ever,’ one stated.

It will hit Aldi stores tomorrow, but savvy shoppers have been pre-ordering the oven online – incredibly, the Aldi website has already reported online sales of over 100 per hour.

Wondering whether you really need a pizza oven? Several hotukdeals users were equally confused. ‘I don’t get why pizza ovens have become a thing? Are they different to a regular oven? Do they taste better?’ asked one.

‘Pizza is best cooked quickly (2-3 minutes or so) at high temperature, which most domestic ovens can’t do,’ another user helpfully explained.

‘You can still make a decent pizza in a normal oven, but it won’t be as good as one made in a pizza oven. Also, they are a fun alternative to BBQs for summer parties.’ So there you have it.

Light and portable, Aldi’s £39.99 steel pizza oven has two handy carry handles, a temperature gauge and that all-important ceramic pizza stone. Easy to perch on your gas, charcoal or masonry barbecue, it promises to deliver ‘restaurant quality pizza’ in minutes. It can also be used to sear fish and meat, and even bake cookies and flatbreads – how’s that for cost-per-use?

In even better news, it doesn’t need any assembly and comes with a three-year guarantee!

For an authentic 'artisan' feel, why not whip up a batch of your own homemade pizza dough? Then all you need to do is throw on a few of your favourite toppings for the perfect al fresco supper – with fragrant basil, creamy mozzarella and rich tomato sauce, you can't go wrong with Gino D’Acampo’s classic margherita pizza recipe.

Or if you're after a standout dessert for a summer barbecue, why not give our showstopping chocolate pizza recipe a try? It's a great way to get the kids involved, too. No one will know you've used a ready-made base, we promise!

If you don’t have a barbecue of your own, you can snap up Aldi’s Gardenline 3 in 1 Pizza Oven for the still-extremely-reasonable price of £79.99.

As well as a pizza stone, it’s got a traditional BBQ and smoker, chrome-plated cooking grill and foldable side shelves.

And it comes highly recommended, with 80 five-star reviews from satisfied customers. ‘A garden must,’ one reviewer enthused.
