  • The Great British Bake Off is thinking of introducing a new themed-week in an attempt to attract millennials who have fallen out of love with the show.

It’s one of the UK’s most loved programmes and regularly boasts millions of viewers. It’s given us some of our favourite new cooking personalities like Nadiya Hussain and Candice Brown.

And despite the loss of Mary Berry since moving to Channel 4, judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith put on a good show alongside presenters Noel Fielding and Sandi Toksvig.

However, for the next series of the show, due to air later this year, producers are thinking of trying something a little different and it’s all thanks to Noel.

According to a source from Channel 4 who spoke with The Sun, Bake Off bosses are considering a vegan-themed week for the first time in the show’s history.

The source said: ‘When Noel put forward the idea producers leapt at the chance to try something different — especially as they think it’ll appeal to younger viewers.

‘While the show has a loyal fanbase, those in charge are keen to snap up a different demographic.’

What will Paul and Prue make of the idea of a vegan week?

There are thought to be 3.5 million vegans living in the UK according to a survey from

Millennials make up a huge proportion of this with 56 per cent of people aged 16 to 29 admitting to have tried a vegan diet in the past year, according to a poll from Kellogg’s.

It’s not clear what prompted Noel to make the suggestion but it will be interesting to see if the show runs with it.

If they are trying to appeal to a younger audience, surely something like a unicorn-themed week would be a hit? You can now buy a whole host of unicorn foods, including unicorn milk, and there are unicorns everywhere in the world of beauty and the top toys list for Christmas!

Although we’ve got a little while to wait, all the talk of Bake Off as got us very excited about the new series!
