Tesco is selling a wedding cake made from entirely cheese and it’s a bargain
Cheese-loving brides and grooms can now treat their guests to a five-tier 'cheese cake'.
Tesco’s imposing wedding cake is made up of five different wheels of cheese, including crunchy Coastal Cheddar, Farmhouse Red Leicester, creamy Blue Stilton and Wensleydale with blueberries and cranberries. It’s all topped off with a lovely St Endellion Brie. Brings a whole new meaning to the word ‘cheesecake’, doesn’t it?
Weighing in at an impressive 2.9kg, it’ll make a showstopping centrepiece that’s sure to impress cheese fans and look great on the buffet table (and Instagram). Tesco suggests serving the cake with a selection of crackers and fruity chutneys. A few artfully arranged figs and grapes will add extra wow factor, too.
Happy shoppers took to Twitter to express their excitement at the news. ‘Cheeselicious,’ said one. ‘Am I going to propose to myself to justify purchasing this? You cheddar believe it!’ another joked.
And the best part? It only costs £30, so it's perfect if you’re looking for a budget-friendly option for a smaller wedding.
But if you’re after something a bit bigger, Waitrose and M&S also make tiered cheese cakes to order.
Waitrose has a range of three, four and five-tier cakes that cost between £115 and £225. Their starter option weighs 5.5kg and is made up of three different kinds of cheese: Hafod Welsh Organic Cheddar, Cropwell Bishop Stilton and Cornish Yarg.

M&S’s Cheese Celebration Cake comes in at a whopping 9.8kg and generously serves up to 120 people, making it perfect for a big reception. It’s made up of five tiers of cheesy goodness, with Gould’s Farmhouse Cheddar, Farmhouse Red Leicester, Ravens Oak goat’s cheese, soft coloured blue veined cheese and Double Gloucester, and costs £160.
There’s also a smaller four-tier version, which serves 50-70 people and comes in at £95. It’s made up of Gould’s Farmhouse Cheddar, White Stilton with cranberries, full fat soft cheese and creamy Lancashire cheese. Yum.
But if the prospect of choosing between cheese and sponge cake is just too much for you, take a tip from the M&S reviewer who bought a cheese celebration cake as a surprise for their fromage fanatic partner, saying, ‘Great selection of cheeses and perfect addition to buffet. Still had wedding cake though!’
