These almond Christmas tree biscuits are decoration biscuits that are really easy and fun to make. The kids will love helping you hang them on the tree and no doubt eating them too! You don't get much more Christmassy than these Christmas tree biscuits that are really fun to decorate - you can head to your local supermarket where you can pick up lots of bits and bobs to help you decorate the trees - from icing pens to icing balls, edible glitter and sprinkles that you can make to look like tinsel, get creative!

Ingredients
For the biscuits:
- 100g flaked almonds
- 110g butter, softened
- 110g caster sugar
- 1 large egg, beaten with 2tsp of water
- 1tsp vanilla extract
- 275g plain flour
- ½ baking powder
- Pinch of salt
To decorate:
- Ready-made icing
- Silver balls
- Jellied oranges and lemons
- Hundreds and thousands
You will also need:
- A pastry cutter of your choice

Method
- Cream the butter and sugar until pale, soft and creamy. Beat the egg and water with the vanilla extract and mix with the butter and sugar.
- Sift in the flour, baking powder and salt and with a wooden spoon, work into the butter until you have a soft dough.
- Wrap the dough in cling film and chill for 30 minutes. Pre-heat the oven to 180˚C/gas mark4
- Roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface to about 5mm thick then cut out your tree shapes and place onto a lightly greased baking tray, re-roll the dough to cut out further shapes.
- Press the flaked almonds into the dough in rows but don’t worry about them being too uniform.
- Bake for 10 mins until pale golden in colour and cool for one min before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Decorate with icing and hundreds and thousands, silver balls and jellied oranges and lemons.

Use a food processor for step 1 and 2 if you like - it'll really save your arms!
