Kate Wright and Rio Ferdinand have tied the knot.

The couple, who got engaged last year, revealed that they walked down the aisle in a beautiful Turkey resort, sharing a stunning photo of their special day.

Speaking to OK! Magazine, dad-of-three Rio said: ‘We’ve become a proper family unit now. I’m just so happy we’re all as one.’

The footballer is dad to 13-year-old Lorenz, 11-year-old Tate and eight-year-old Tia from his previous marriage to late wife Rebecca Ellison, who tragically passed away from cancer back in 2015.

Since the pair back in 2017, former The Only Way Is Essex star Kate has taken on the sportsman’s three kids as her own.

‘I definitely wasn’t looking for someone at that time,’ said Rio.

‘I didn’t think it was possible, I wasn’t open to bringing someone in to become a stepmum to the kids. Things don’t always go the way you imagine. Meeting Kate changed everything and sometimes it’s just fate.’

‘I knew Kate was special from the moment I met her,’ continued the 40-year-old, ‘it was pretty instant, but seeing her with the kids cemented everything, that was a huge part of it for me. So many pieces of the jigsaw have to click together for it to work and the wedding was the final piece.’

‘The night I met Rio I knew I was going to marry him,’ added Kate. ‘I met him and we just clicked straight away.

‘We didn’t kiss or anything but I went back to my room that night and I told all my friends that I’m going to marry him,’ continued the 28-year-old. ‘And here I am, I just knew. You know when you just click – we both felt it and have talked about it since.’

Speaking of the special day, which took place in lavish Marmaris resort D Maris Bay Hotel, Rio added: ‘I cried as soon as the day started. Seeing Tia walk up the aisle before Kate set me off. It was just so emotional.

‘There was just no going back on the emotion, that’s why I had to keep my shades on! Seeing Tate and Lorenz walk Kate down the aisle was particularly poignant and we wouldn’t have wanted to do it any other way. They were so proud and they couldn’t wait to do that, they felt important.’

‘Having the boys walk me down the aisle was just amazing,’ gushed the former TOWIE star. ‘It was a hugely important moment for me and they did so well.

‘Seeing Rio at the altar made me feel so happy, I couldn’t wait to get to him, especially as he was so emotional. It was everything that I had imagined it to be, but I didn’t cry at that moment. I cried all my tears in the morning!’

Big congratulations to Kate and Rio!
