The Duchess of Sussex can be seen on the verge of tears as she opens up about the struggles of adapting to life in the royal family and becoming a new mum in an emotional on screen interview.
- The Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle has opened up about the struggles of adapting to life as a new mum in the royal family amid media spotlight.
- She can be seen clearly emotional during the honest interview in the upcoming ITV documentary following the Duchess and Prince Harry during their recent tour of Africa.
- This royal news comes after Prince Harry broke down during speech as he remembered a sweet moment from Meghan's pregnancy.
In the upcoming ITV documentary about Meghan and husband Prince Harry’s recent tour of Africa, the former Suits actress opened up about dealing with life in the public eye and adapting to her role in the British royal family all while welcoming her first son, Archie, into the world.
Speaking to ITV news presenter Tom Bradby, the Duchess explained, “Look, any woman especially when they are pregnant you're really vulnerable and so that was made really challenging, and then when you have a new born – you know…
“And especially as a woman, it's a lot.
“So you add this on top of just trying to be a new mum or trying to be a newlywed it's, well…"
She went on to admit that few people have checked on her mental wellbeing during the whirlwind of the past year, adding, “Also thank you for asking, because not many people have asked if I'm okay. But it's a very real thing to be going through behind the scenes.”

She was then asked, “And the answer is, would it be fair to say, not really okay, as in it's really been a struggle?”
Clearly emotional, Meghan simply responded with, “Yes.”
This comes weeks after Prince Harry publicly announced that he and Meghan are taking legal action against certain aspects of the British press, slamming the media for the ‘ruthless’ treatment of his wife, comparing it to the way that his late mother, Princess Diana was treated.
A statement read, ‘I’ve seen what happens when someone I love is commoditised to the point that they are no longer treated or seen as a real person. I lost my mother and now I watch my wife falling victim to the same powerful forces.’
