Glee star Darren Criss announces he’s engaged to girlfriend Mia Swier

Glee star Darren Criss took to social media to announce his exciting news that he is engaged to his long-term girlfriend Mia Swier.

The normally pretty private couple seemed keen to enjoy their engagement together without the rest of the world knowing, so they have kept it a secret from the public for some time.

According to Entertainment Tonight, Darren was seen showing off Mia's engagement ring to his former Glee cast mate, Lea Michele at the Versace premiere last week.

Posting the same picture to Instagram and Twitter, he captioned it, “Mia and I have had seven and a half years of fun, wacky, wonderful, CRAZY adventures together. And I’m happy to announce that we’re kicking those adventures up a notch. We’re goin for it. To boldly go where neither of us have gone before. Engage.”

The actor, who found fame on hit American TV show Glee, received over 332,000 likes and over 8.5k comments of congratulations and well wishes for the pair.

'So remarkably happy for you both (even though I've never met her). Keep the adventures and happiness priority! Much love Darren, and congrats you guys!' commented one.

'Congratulations love birds!' said another.

The 30-year-old actor is currently starring as serial killer Andrew Cunanan in TV show The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story.

Darren has been with his 32-year-old writer and producer girlfriend Mia for seven and a half years.

It wasn't until 2013 that the pair announced their romance to the public, having hid it from everyone since 2010.

The actor previously revealed that they’ve been together since before he became famous.

When talking to Kiss 92.5’s Roz & Mocha Show, Darren said, ‘I didn’t know I was going to be on TV when we started dating… Yeah we’ve been together a long time.’
