Anyone who's been on a long car journey with kids will be well aware that there's nothing worse than a trip riddled with cries of 'I'm bored!' or the dreaded 'are we nearly there yet?'

Traveling treasure hunt
'Create a treasure hunt list of items for the kids to look out for during the journey, such as a yellow car, an RAC van or a mobile home. It can be adapted for different ages to keep it interesting for everyone.'

'My three children like their books and gadgets so we never leave home without them, and they tend to keep them busy. If they still get rowdy I tell them I need to concentrate on the roads so I don't crash the car... that usually works!'
