Why Kate Middleton and Prince William missed this important event with Harry and Meghan

Kate Middleton and Prince William missed an important event that both Prince Harry and Meghan attended over the weekend.

Meghan, who celebrated her 37th birthday on Saturday, was a guest at Charlie van Straubenzee’s wedding, alongside husband Prince Harry, who had an important part to play at the ceremony as the Best Man.

As well as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, the Cambridges were also expected to attend the nuptials in Surrey, but left royal fans disappointed as they were no where to be seen.

Both Harry and William are good friends of the van Straubenzee family, ever since groom Charlie and Harry met at Ludgrove Prep School in Berkshire during their childhood.

William is also very good friends Charlie's older brother Thomas, who is actually little Princess Charlotte's godfather.

Given the strong ties between them, it came as a surprise that Kate and William decided to skip the ceremony. However, Hello! reports the couple might have still made an appearance.

The publication say that while they were not seen going to the church for the ceremony, unlike Harry and Meghan who were picture chatting to other guests outside, they might have decided to just attend the evening reception in order to avoid having all the attention on them.

Kate and William are said to have gone on their first holiday as a family a five recently

The pair have also reportedly been enjoying their first holiday as a family of five in the Caribbean island of Mustique, so it is also possible that that is the reason why they could not attend their friend's wedding day.

While their holiday has not been officially confirmed, it's been reported William and Kate have left the UK to spend a relaxing few days with their three children and some of Kate's family in the exclusive island.

This might also not be the only wedding Kate misses in the next few months. With her sister's due date falling roughly at the same time as Princess Eugenie's wedding, it's been reported Kate could potentially have to skip the nuptials in Windsor, in order to be by her sister's side.
