Kate Middleton reveals Princess Charlotte's passion for horses during Olympic event for Team GB

Could we see the little royal in the Olympics one day?

Kate Middleton has revealed that Princess Charlotte could be following in her aunt Zara Phillips' footsteps with a passion for horses.

The Duchess of Cambridge was among the royals welcoming Team GB home after impressive performances in the Rio 2016 Olympic games. Hosted at Buckingham Palace, Kate joined the Queen, Prince Harry and Prince William for the reception to honour the stars of the Rio games.

It was there that she admitted that her daughter Charlotte had some sporting tendencies despite only being 17 months old.

It turns out the toddler loves horses and her mother is set on doing everything she can to encourage her.

Speaking to Equestrian triple-gold medallist Natasha Baker, Kate revealed the details of Charlotte's future hobby.

Natasha said of the conversation, 'I asked her how the children were and she said Charlotte is really enjoying her riding which is great to hear and I said we may see her here on a line-up in 20 years time.'

'She emphasised that Charlotte has this passion about horses and although she doesn't echo it, she'll do her best to champion and encourage it.'

The Duchess is said to have hinted at Charlotte's excitable nature and George's love of fencing, saying to Natasha, 'George is fascinated by fencing but I think that's because of the face shields. Charlotte would have loved to be here but she'd be running riot.'

Kate also spoke to champion swimmer Ellie Simmons, who claimed an impressive fifth gold medal at this year's games, and reiterated her children's passions. Ellie later recalled what Kate had said, 'The duchess was telling me how George likes swimming and Charlotte loves horses'.

It's no surprise that Charlotte loves the sport, as horse riding is in her blood and traditionally a big passion for the royal family.

The Queen was a keen horse rider when she was younger and Zara Phillips is known as the only royal to have won an Olympic medal, when she claimed silver an equestrian event at London 2012.
