Budget supermarket Aldi has slashed the cost of its most popular bottles of fizz, just in time for the weekend.

Stocking up on fizz for the Bank Holiday weekend? Aldi has long been known for its affordable, award-winning wines.

And now it’s cut the cost of two of its most popular varieties of prosecco, making them even more of a bargain!

The price of a bottle of Castellore Prosecco Frizzante has been slashed from £5.49 to just £3.99, while Aldi's Castellore Prosecco Spumante DOC has been reduced from £5.99 to £4.99.

The wines will only be available at the discounted price for a limited time, so you’ll have to get in quick – the Frizzante version has already sold out online, but is still on sale in Aldi stores.

So what’s the difference? Well, it’s all in the strength of the bubbles. Frizzante wines are usually described as 'gently sparkling’ while Spumante wines are higher pressure (i.e. fizzier) and sometimes described as ‘fully sparkling’.

The ‘gentler’ £3.99 Prosecco Frizzante has citrus, apple and sherbet aromas and fruity lemon, lime, grapefruit and peach flavours, with a touch of melon. If you’re planning an Easter shindig, it’ll work perfectly as an aperitif.

The Spumante Prosecco has a floral scent with notes of citrus. Wine buffs might detect a touch of pear amongst the familiar peach, apple and lemon flavours, too.

This slightly pricier £4.99 option is still available to buy online, as well as in store. And you’ll get free delivery if you stock up on at least six bottles.

Last month, Aldi announced that it was adding four new liqueurs to its innovative Infusionist range, with two different kinds of gin liqueurs and two tropical vodka-based tipples to choose from.

The Infusionist Parma Violet Shimmer Infused Gin Liqueur, Rhubarb, Pink Grapefruit & Black Pepper Gin Liqueur, Coconut & Vanilla Rum Liqueur and Mango, Papaya and Yuzu Vodka Liqueur will land in stores from 26th April, and we’re counting down the days…

In the meantime though, we’ll be raising a glass (or two) to this incredible prosecco deal. Cheers!
