We all have different alcohol tastes...

Some love nothing better than sipping on a cold and refreshing G&T, others prefer fruity cocktails for a hit of sugar and then there are those who just live for the wine.

But there’s one tipple that brings us all together – champagne.

While prosecco can be hit or miss (usually more hit than miss in our case), there’s something about its French sister that has us all polishing off glass after glass.

But spending the evening sipping on the French fizz can become a routine that ends up leaving your bank account looking a lot drier than your drinking habit.

Enter – supermarket Champagnes.

And while you may have thought it best so stick to the more upmarket name brands for a smoother fizz-drinking experience, one supermarket has beaten out circa £30 bottles to be named the best bubbles around.

A bottle of fizz courtesy of leading supermarket Asda has been voted the best Champagne.

Asda’s Extra Special Louis Bernard Vintage Champagne 2007 came top in the Best Champagne category at the People’s Choice Wine Awards, beating out two other more expensive options.

Described by Asda as ‘a refreshing and elegant Champagne balancing creamy vanilla flavours with a smooth fruitiness’ the fizz comes in at a purse-friendly £18.

And it gets better – the bottle is currently on offer so you can get hold of it for only £15!

That’s a bargain considering the bottles it managed to beat out.

It was up against Champagne Jacques Chaput Blanc-de-Noirs (2010), which comes in at around £29, and The Wine Society’s Champagne Brut Non Vintage, which is £33.

You can sip on it by itself or the supermarket suggests pairing it with smoked salmon or light chicken dishes. These smoked salmon cheese wheels and coconut chicken rolls would complement it perfectly!

Categorised as very dry, the fizz is available to buy on the supermarket’s website or in Asda stores across the country.

So grab a bottle quick before the offer runs out!
