Lidl's sell-out Easter treat has been brought back for a limited time…
If there’s one thing we like as much as a good hot cross bun, it’s ice cream. And if you managed to get your hands on a tub of Lidl’s sell-out Hot Cross Bun Ice Cream last year, it’s safe to say you’ll be delighted to hear that as of today, it’s back on sale.
Last Easter, the luxury ice cream got customers very excited indeed. Several shoppers took to Twitter to deliver their verdicts – and they didn’t hold back.
‘Your hot cross bun ice cream is basically the best thing that has ever happened,’ one person declared.
‘Believe the hype! Lidl’s Hot Cross Bun Ice Cream really does taste like the real thing,’ another agreed.
The delicious dairy ice cream is made with British double cream and whole milk, packed with juicy raisins and swirled through with cinnamon sauce. And at just £1.99 for 480ml, it’s quite frankly a steal.
News of the relaunch has certainly made several fans very happy indeed.
‘YES! @LidlGB have brought back their Hot Cross Bun Ice Cream in time for #Easter!’ one tweeted.
At 129 calories for 100ml, it definitely counts as an Easter indulgence, but as another customer put it: ‘Grateful to @LidlGB for #hotcrossbunicecream. The opportunity to eat these treats is what running was invented for’.
But the ice cream will only be on sale until Easter, so you’ll have to be quick.
While you’re at it, why not grab a pack of Lidl’s adorable new Easter bunny nuggets for the kids?
And seeing as you’re there, you may as well snap up a bottle of the brand’s new hot cross bun flavour wine, too.
The budget supermarket’s Moscatel Reserva de Familia wine has notes of raisin and sweet spice, which Lidl’s Master of Wine Richard Bampfield says are ‘very much like that of the cinnamon and nutmeg flavours in hot cross buns’. Sold.
